Hey everybody I was reading through the comments that you guys wrote for the Taking action forum and I think you guys have some really good ideas. Some of those cmments were pretty old though. Now that we're going into a new year what can we do to let our voices be heard. In reality what power does our voices have?Im not being negative i just want to know how far we can take this thing and what will being heard help us accomplish.I like getting invovled in school and my community so if you guys have any new ideas im up for it.

Brenda, I'm all for that. However, in the past, we always have good ideas and we can never mobilize as an organization (though, I know we mainly only use DAP for the forum).

We've suggested letter writing, fax sending, phone calling, writing our personal stories and compiling them into a book, someone has also mentioned trying to get national attention on Oprah. But for some reason or another we can never get the ball rolling. People are always down for things, but when the time comes we can never get enough to actually make a difference. I'm not trying to sound pessimistic, I'm just making an observation. At any rate, thanks for volunteering. At the moment, we don't have an official DAP campaign going on, but you can always write to your reps. If you have a fax machine, that's better Also, if you're on a college campus, one of the things some folks and I did here on the board did was to create flyers about general DREAM related info and posted them around campus.

I transcribed an oral history about my friend (also undocumented) in one of my history classes. The paper was mostly about me, but I used some things about him also since I didn't want my history professor (who knew me pretty well) to get any ideas. I'd be willing to send that in as part our personal stories project if that ever gets off the ground.

You guys are right, we need to start doing something. To be honest, I have not been really into the DREAM act effort these past months (girls, motorcycle, etc).

But now it seems that the time is right to organize ourselves again.

One question, who should be contact first, and what should we tell them??

Should we urge the need of a reform in the whole immigration law, or urge the need for the DREAM Act??

We contact Durbin first and ask him who else we can contact or stuff. What do you guys think?
