you can apply for a private loan, with BofA, they offer two types private and federal, just tell them that you would like to apply for a private loan, and they send you info through the mail, to fill out, also you have to have a co-signer that is a u.s. citizen or permanent resident.

I dont have a SSN so we left it blank, in a couple of weeks we both got the American Express card and when it came time to activate it my mother just used her SSN to activate both card.

I mainly just use it to buy stuff over the phone or online bacause I dont have an ID to show it to a sales clerk at a store. But hey at least that kinda helps build my credit alittle.
yea we did the same...
though i also have a passport that i flash...
although the 3 times tat i have used a credit card,
they didnt even bother to ask for id

Are you serious? I had someone call me yesterday about a student credit card that had no annual fee. But I said I wasn't a legal permanent resident and I said I didn't have a SSN but had an ITIN. It took them awhile to tell me that I couldn't apply for it but only because I wasn't a LPR.

I think it might depend on how the card is structured. My husband and I have several credit cards that he was added to when we got married. I don't think I ever had to give his social security number, and I have a daughter that I added to another card and they didn't ask anything about her. Just wanted the name for the additional card.
When we've received our credit reports my husband does show up as having those credit cards. I don't know if that is just because we are married.

I don't have a photo on my debit card though. So they said to you if you wanted to add your photo on it, they could do it?
yes DREAMACt01. they told me if i wanted to add a photo i could, which would be great for all of us, b/c it shows another form of ID, although it doesnt show your DOB

I hate to always be the bearer of bad news but photos on credit cards are pretty useless.

I guess it's better than nothing but it certainly doesn't qualify as photo ID anywhere (then again I could be wrong, I've heard some strange things on this forum).

* i dont kno if this makes a diff. but its a debit card i have, not a credit card

well J6, i mean i guess its different in NY, the reason why its so important to me here in NV, is b/c i can now apply for a health card, (in NV, you need a photo id (my bankcard w/ photo and a birth certificate) if i dont have a state i.d./ with that health card, i can get a job in any family restaurant, b/c most of these just hire people, as long as they have a health card, b/c the health dept., really buckles down on business who have employees that don't have a health card.

^Wow they have some lax laws in NV. Still, I'm glad at least some of us can benefit.
