I'm from California. Last year I paid 225 a month(out of pocket)for Kaiser Permanente Last year. I paid 40 dollars for every visit and 20 dollars for every brand name prescription med. I found out that this year they switched plans on me because of Obama care. Now I pay 185 per month with every doctor visit at 60 dollars. It doesn't seem too bad until I was buying my medication and I was charged $212 for 60 day supply which made me lose my sh*t. It turns out I have to fulfill my deductible of $5k until I can pay just for a $20 copay for generic prescription meds and $50 for my brand name meds(this $212 is what I need) Anyways I'm pissed the hell off cause I'm nowhere close to $5k or intend on a quarter of that. I just want my drugs(not to soundlike an addict) but I'm diagnosed with ADHD and those meds significantly made me clear.

Some of you are probably are groaning and rolling your eyes that I don't have a real disorder but it's real to me but I have several other health issues too that are not related to this. Does anyone have any info on this ?

There are a couple of things you can do. You have a high deductible plan so it is more of an emergency health insurance. You can call pharmacies around and check the price of the medicine w/o insurance. For example, I get an Rx that w/o insurance it cost about $100 bucks but it is under the Rite Aid low cost RX program. Most pharmacies have a list of drugs that they offer discounts on. So, at rite aid I got it for $10 dollars. Walgreens tiers their medication So there is 1 tier for generics 2 tiers for brand etc...they offer different discounts on them. There is subsidized healthcare for Dreamers in CA under the Medical program but it is restricted to emergency services too. But usually deductibles do not apply to Rx drugs. So it is interesting. Are you getting it from a provider pharmacy? they didn't switch you to a mail rx plan?

Yeah I'm getting it from Kaiser's pharmacy. What's a mail rx plan?

Mail rx plan is something like e scripts. Where you basically get your drugs in the mail. Supposed to be cheaper.

You should shop around for a different plan. That usually means you didn't have good health coverage to begin with. Since they had to add coverage they increased your premium and increased your deductible. Now there is a minimum standard of coverage and that is what happened. If you are young you won't be paying that much per month.

My next option that doesn't have a deductible it's $ 240 a month. I used to have the same coverage for 225 a month last year. #illegallLife

What is your income? You might be elligible for Medi-Cal. Also which county do you reside in?
