What have yall been doing to help us get a permanent solution? I want to advocate but not much happens in the houston area so Ive stuck to donating money to UWD since theyre the primary force to helping us. The way I see it is that giving up this money is better than not even being able to get a job if a solution isnt found

Don't donate to UWD and similar organizations. They have no interest in getting ANYTHING passed. Believe me on this one. I listened to one of their conference calls and it ended pretty much like this "Okay people, Let's go after these racists!" and then another asshole in the background started yelling "Yippeeeeee" like WTF??? These organizations are making THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS from donations. Till date, nobody has been able to figure out how to get UWD to pay for their DACA renewal when thats precisely what they say when they collect donations that they will help you pay for DACA renewal. I have even seen UWD posts on facebook asking for donations for DACA renewal when DACA renewals WERE NOT BEING ACCEPTED!!

The only full proof way of helping is by making phone calls to Congress to ask them to support a bipartisan solution!

In my opinion, there currently is not way to help our cause and help push a bill in congress. The divide is too far apart between republicans and democrats. We have become bargaining chips for both sides and neither side want to do whats best for us.

I think the ACLU would be the best bet to support daca recipients. The are cases where the aclu has gone to bat for a daca recipient and won. I would look at the organizations history and their accomplishment before deciding where to put you money. But i would not donate to a congressman

If the ACLU does not take serious action to help the 10.1 million undocumented immigrants that have been under attack for decades, why do you believe they can do something for Dreamers?

They have not effectively prevented deportations of long-term immigrants. They are losing on the Muslim ban. The next hit underway is the lawsuit against the ACA which will affect health care for 53 million people. The ACA lawsuit is modeled after the Dapa/eDaca defeat. Again, these orgs were not very active on immigrants' rights under Obama when the same things were happening on a smaller scale.

I support their mission overall. But I do not see them as effective in protecting the attacks against immigrant communities.

I know they have helped individual dreamers from this forum and on a case by case basis. Only congress can help the dreamers as a whole.

Exactly what can do to help? We already have multi billionaire companies ( Apple) and artists helping the cause. For years some of us have been calling our reps to add pressure to Congress and encouraging people to vote. Not to mention educating others what daca, da, cir ect ect. We have been doing this for years to no avail

Well it's not as if we should just stop though. Gotta keep pushing forward and find more ways to support our cause. The way I see UWD donations is that theyre one of the only groups I see out there advocating with protest rallies and they need money to support those. If I can't attend, then might as well support it with money.

UWD is wasting your cash bro. Go do your own rallies with your own money.

If a DACA solution passes UWD is dead and all their people will lose their jobs. You think they want a solution to be passed? lol. I tried listening to one of their conference calls once and they even wanted to charge money just to listen in
