Whats Up Coyolzauhqui,
Welcome to the Dream Act Portal, "yes" your situation is tough indeed but our goal is to pass Dream this fall, the means for passing dream this fall is this forum. Thanks for joining and hope to see around the forum. I myself will graduate from a four-year institution of higher education next year, we both are in the same conundrum of what to do with our lives after college.

Coyolxauhqui,
Welcome to the forum.
Also just a reminder... this forum is diverse so we post in English because not all of us speak Spanish. Would you like to translate for the rest? Thanks.
I am from Mexico City as well:).
I'm translating her post...

welcome btw
Allow me to translate...
My brother, MY BROTHER said to me one day that I was a "stupid undocumented". I felt worse when he said that to me. He's very right, I don't have legal documents in this country, but why am I a stupid undocumented? I'm a stupid undocumented because my mother thought about him when she decided that her second-born would be born in the United States. She wanted him to have the best opportunities of getting ahead. Him but not me. She didn't think that when we came here from Mexico, I would have to start a life that would turn me into what I am today: a "stupid undocumented". My brother can work in whatever he pleases, drive, feel free to get out of the country, he can do everything that I should be doing in my Mexico. My Mexico from whence I should never have been taken out. My Mexico to where I will return. Of course when I say go back, I don't ignore what this country has given me; I know it's given me plenty. Best of all is my B.A. in Psychology. I want to wait a couple of months to see what's going to happen with the "Dream Act", if it doesn't go through, I'm leaving. I don't wanna be here anymore, not like this.
Now I want to tell you a bit about me. I was born in Mexico City on October 10th. I'm into psychology, music, philosophy, art, love and life.
I decided to join this forum because I wanted to meet people like me. Guys and girls that live what I live on a daily basis. I would like to make friends and be informed about what's going on with the much awaited "Dream Act".

OK, ok thanks mariob. just a lil 'tweeking'
I wouldn't translate pinche into fucking, it's a bit less extreme but there isn't a right word. It's more than stupid but NOT fucking, not the way I see it.
I will have a B.A. in Psychology come December not a Ph. D. I wish it was a Ph. D.
I will post everything in both Spanish and Englis from now on, it's just that since I think, and dream in Spanish this came out naturally in Spanish with all of the emotions I wanted to evoke.
sorry, let me amend those things. Since you said "licensiatura" I figured Ph.D.

Welcome to the site. I'm sorry that even your own brother would say something like that to you. Hopefully it was only in a moment of anger? Whatever the case, you won't be one for long, if we get our way.
OK, ok thanks mariob. just a lil 'tweeking'

Coyol, welcome to the forum. Mariob- outstanding job in translating.
Coyol, I'm from Mexico as well, but my Spanish is not so great, unfortunately. I had to stress to read your intro, how frustrating. I've been in the U.S since age 3, go figure. Anyhow, I take it your brother is a youngster, so, don't take him too seriously. I have a younger brother (citizen) as well, but I have taught him to respect the situation...
This is what I tell him... "You have five jobs as a little brother...
1. Do whatever your sisters say
2. Stand there and look cute
3. Protect your sisters
4. Learn to be responsible
5. Be successful in life "
So, now he has these memorized, and he has shared them with my sisters, and my mom
Note that he used to have a nasty little attitude there expanding, but I took responsibility as an older sister and changed that.

didn't mean for it to come out that way, chill..
He means that people are unknowingly doing the same thing that you-know-who is doing: assuming we're all Mexican.
The premise of DREAM is that we're all fully assimilated, since we are, there's no point to write in other languages.

my lil brother has made fun of me like that sometimes....but im always like so i still have a college degree and you still come ask me for questions loser.
i also tell him that the US is going to change the law so that even people born in the US will be cocidered illegal...if they have undocumented parents....that really gets to him.

THANK YOU ALL FOR "WELCOMING" ME. I FEEL RIGHT AT HOME :D .
Wow! I was also born in Mexico City on October 10. I have a little sister who is a citizen and I am happy she is getting the opportunity to live without worries here in America. I also have a little brother who is undocumented and it hurts me to think that he can't do the things that other people are doing. I stay up sometimes thinking about what would happen to him if he were sent back. I'm more worried about him than I am about me. I hope DREAM passes soon so we won't have to worry about this stuff anymore.

Welcome chilanga! My parents are from Puebla and i was born in the bronx. That's messed up your bro said that to you. I see that same tendency of some people-some who benefitted from the 1986 IRCA Laws for example, turn their backs to their family members because of their status. I'd say dont take it personal-tell him he's a pinche culero (f*ing a**hoe)...and one day maybe he will wake up and realize the wrong that he has been doing.
As for comments about translation:
While we must be sensitive that some of us dont speak certain foreign languages, we shouldnt jump to conclusions that we have all assimilated to an only english lexicon.
Language, of whichever kind, helps express our most deepest feeling and is a reflection of our culture. We should honor our own cultures and that of others.
