Open the door, seriously. This world is corrupted. I don't care who give me a path to legal status. If it's Trump, great. If it's Obama, great. I simply don't give a fuck about anything but getting myself out of this loop.

Everyone here understands the damage Miller and Republicans have done to many of us. But I have to admit if it weren't for the rescission of DACA, no one would even remember DACA is a thing in 2017/2018. Let alone in 2021. So please open the door and stay with the present. Democrats need to step up and bring up a deal after Jan 3.

I think discussions will start shortly after Jan 3rd. Something should happen before March / April. If nothing happens by then I would start to agree with what some people have said but I definitely don't agree with what some people are saying right now and what dems should do right now.

As to corruption, there's no gain or loss when it comes to DACA. 700k people out of 350 million? That's 0.2% of the US population. The fact that people besides DACA even care about 0.2% of something is already something interesting.

Both party benefits in votes and donations.

This is what I believe: If there's going to be any kind of comprehensive immigration reform, the dreamers will be first in line. This is the best group of people that are educated, been here for a long time, fairly young, have sympathy with the american people, etc. If you were going to get immigrants from other countries, this is exactly what you're looking for. If nothing is done about DACA, there won't be any immigration reform.

Even if DACA gets permanent relief, the immigration issue is not solved. There are many people here that don't have daca that would also have to be dealt with. It's not like if DACA is done, republicans have nothing to bargain in terms of immigration, there's plenty of things.

There's incentive for both parties to come together for DACA. Dems is obvious. For republicans, they would get back latino votes. Trump can say "look, I've done something for these kids" which is always positive and it's hard to call him a racist because the majority of DACA holders are not white. When DACA people get citizenship, I'm sure a good amount of them will vote republican because Trump is their savior. This is all with no wall. If Trump gets the wall then Republicans will get more points.

It's all a game of leverage. Dems will get more leverage after Jan. 3rd and I believe that's when true DACA negotiations will begin.

I agree with most of what you wrote. Good points.

AP waives EWI. Republicans understand this. We should understand that they control the executive, the judicial, and half of the legislative branch. We don't have a lot of leverage and probably should not expect travel privileges.

I too would like to visit my family and to have a job that requires traveling abroad, but the most important thing is being able to provide for our families. DACA (without AP) provides DREAMers a great opportunity to accomplish this and more.
