Re: GOP senators to unveil new ‘Dreamers’ bill

It will be like the year 2032 before any of us gain citizenship with this. Let that sink in.

Although... this is better than nothing. I also agree that it's unfortunate it does not have an accelerated option for those that already have a college degree, have served in the military, or have worked continuously for 48+ months.

For one... it will have you sign a waiver signing away your rights if you violate terms of your status, putting you at easier risk for deportation.

You basically have to be straight as a nail for 15 years or you're out.

I don't care for citizenship. Like someone said, we're months from expiring and deportation protection is gone. I rather be green card holder for life than be deported.

Personally, I don’t see this as a bad thing. But I can see how this would seem restrictive for some. I mean most dreamers are good ppl who haven’t done anything bad, ever in our lives. So I don’t see this been a problem. Is there anything else?

its not about being good or bad, we can all agree that DREAMers who commit crimes should be gone.

but this is an issue of infringing on civil liberties, anyone living here has the human and constitutional right of due process.

oh i didn't know that, so it's not someone has to be convicted, but simply accused could be in violation?

A 'significant' misdemeanor is: a misdemeanor that involves domestic violence, sexual abuse or exploitation, burglary, driving under the influence (DUI), unlawful possession or use of a firearm, or drug distribution or drug trafficking; or. any misdemeanor for which you are sentenced to more than 90 days in prison

I believe (I) is a felony. (a crime, typically one involving violence, regarded as more serious than a misdemeanor, and usually punishable by imprisonment for more than one year)

Under the Dream Act bill, Significant misdemeanor should not disqualify you.

:)

does somebody actually the legislative language of the bill, I can't find online, it is usually on the senate website.

yeah but with us signing away our legal rights, how can we defend ourselves when accused, even if we are guilty or not. sucks man...

im okay with this bill, im willing to wait 15-20 yrs for citizenship. but the provision that we have to sign away our due process rights is a big no-no.
