Yeah I heard about the shots incident, but idk about the whole God business. Dobbs doesn't strike me to be the type of person to change his believes about immigration just because he heard a shot from outside. I think it has more to do with being a greedy bastard with an obvious agenda. Anyway I don't mind that the Democrats recruited him on their side, we're all resentful for what he did but let's face it- this decision isn't so bad. Dobbs was really impressive, he appealed to a lot of ignorant people and not just that he also put a lot of focus on immigration. Since he was the mouth of opposition, it's good he stepped down and might even send a positive message to others who thought just like him.

As for the whole jamesp thing- Do you have any idea what the guest worker program is? It's a simple common formality; guests are always welcomed, but no one expects them to stay.

Warhound: Nope. Just from the republican side (supposedly)

That is pretty interesting though... the bar is pretty low and aren't elections coming up? The opertunist in me says this is a good time to strike. What senator doesn't love a good threat that he/she won't be voted for office if they don't support their peoples cause.
Then again the pessimist in me says the bar is already low, isn't that a sign that there is no cooperation being done? That there is no silver lining or however that saying goes...

This is the same exact content of the article in the thread above. CNS contacted Schumer's office for comment after publication of this article and they weren't available for comment. We had more than *2* Republicans support CIR last time around. You already have two in McCain and Graham; what is it exactly that they do not support? The provisions and demands remain the same for both sides of the aisle, and one is going to have to give. I feel reluctant to take this at its word; however, it does give a blimp of optimism, which no doubt will be crushed sometime next week when some jerk publishes something negative on CIR. Then the whole cycle of hope and despair will start all over again.

I'm tired of this bipartisanship story because the Republicans really have no interest in it. Really. It's more like bipartisanSHIT.

Why don't we all send him flowers and cards and chocolate and stuff? idk let him know we're thankful that his even considering this

He's not stupid and he' doesn't want to be known as "anti-immigrant". He's actually pretty smart and I think one of the reasons he's been so controversial is because he know what he says pushes buttons and gets ratings.

And don't forget the tamales;). Dobbs has to have a heart deep inside..

It's not like all democrats actually support CIR. There are democrats that oppose it. They will need at least several republicans.

If they already have the Republican support, and they want to pass this shit, why don't they just throw in a damn guest worker program, the legalization stuff, and BAM, both sides win, and we have reform.
I'm highly annoyed at all these politicians. I'm not grasping what's the big problem and why they don't do this already.

When the government wills, the government gets it. When the time is right for them to give us papers, we will have papers.... That is, when the time is right for THEM. And no I don't mean when the "economy is good" and the "American people feel comfortable", because all of that is bullshit. When they need 12 million people to have papers, we'll have papers. I'm just hoping that time is near.
