The proposed CIR gives illegal alien temp status for 8 years. During those years one has to pay taxes. I'm sure that one will not be able to get ANY government benefits during that time. And after 8 years officer will interview prospective alien and if he/she sees that alien barely makes money to support himself and theoretically can become a burden to taxpayers officer can deny Green Card to the person based on few backdoors they have in the proposed CIR bill like the lack of English. That's the way I look at the proposed CIR. Correct me if I'm wrong. But during those 8 years alien WILL pay taxes therefore contribute to USA economy. Proposed CIR is good and bad in the way. It's sort of a trap so Republicans SHOULD vote yes on it as it is the only way to make any money on us versus wasting money on enforcement.

I was thinking the other day, and if for 8 years undocumented immigrants would have to be on a visa, and then apply for permanent residence, those 8 years they are going to need a work permit which is now $340 a year per person, round it to 10 million people that is what? 3.4 billion dollars just for that card per year? that is some good income for USCIS to fund enforcement at the border...
