DA User, Someone wise told me once on this forum that you have to learn how to be realist sometimes and not be overly optimistic on issues like this. By having such a stance, you will be prepared to face any setbacks which are especially inevitable with Immigration. So, just have a balanced view of everything. In my opinion, partisan politics are plaguing Washington and this is evidenced by McCain's response to these brave youth who have decided to lead the fight. Which dreams are you talking about? Senator McCain doesn't even have respect for his own colleague Ted Kennedy with whom he co-sponsored the last Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill which failed during the Bush administration. Simply put, Republicans don't want ANY legislation passed because there is a Democrat in office!

We have Graham and Brown. Crist also as Independant.

Then Democrat Rodney Glassman has a better shot at winning. I truly hope McCain loses in the primary.

Who is he running against? Does his opponent support CIR/Dream Act?

So...to clarify...the ask of the Dream Act 5, the whole reason they planned this, is to put pressure on to demand that the Dream Act is passed as a stand-alone bill. Period, end of story. It's obvious neither R or D intends to seriously tackle CIR this year, and the Dream Act can't afford to keep on waiting for BS and meaningless words.

Why? We all know that he's talking all tough on immigration because of his primary, but deep down he knows what is right with regards to immigration. I think that once this all settles down and if McCain gets reelected, he will magically come back to his senses. He may continue to say the whole stuff about securing borders, but I think that all of a sudden he will support the proposal Schumer introduced because it really does secure borders.

He just wants to win first and he's doing whatever it takes. It's not right, but he is desperate. He still has a heart, however, he is just trying to please those that do not.

I think he will be back around if he gets re elected. As for his opponents, what do they call it?... oh yeah, fuggedaboutit!

This is the man who picked Sarah Palin as his replacement should his cancer-ridden, 70 year old body give up on him. You're giving him too much credit dear.

J. D. Hayworth is as conservative as it gets...We wouldn't be any better off if he beat McCain. In fact, at this point, it makes sense to support McCain because I'm sure he will come back on board once he assures a win at the polls. Simple politics at play here...

That's what I'm saying. With Hayworth, no chance in hell! With McCain, we still have a chance. When he was running for president, he was the only one who stood up on this issue (and Giuliani) surrounded by 10 other Republicans who wanted to deport everybody.

At this point he is helpless and is just trying to win. Once he is in, it's six whole years and no one can tell him a damn thing. He knows we need immigration reform and he will come back to his senses. (I just hope.)

The deal is that Gutierrez and Diaz-Ballart have been trying to get Pelosi to act on it...she's holding a grudge because she wants to push for climate change. She knows that there's a chance that next year we'll have Speaker Boehner and she wants climate change to be her legacy as speaker. The truth is that the Senate wont act on CIR or DREAM this year because it's not politically sound. We're in a pickle, and it sucks but that's life.
