Re: Obama Supports DREAM Act: "Let's Make Sure Those Kids Can Stay"
I don't think your words were poorly chosen considering some of the simpletons on this site. In fact, it's probably more generous than what I would've said if I gave a shit lol.
What we need is more constructive advocacy and discussion (which exists) and less of the melodramatic bitches on here. OMG this article is sad, OMG this article is ok. Jesus. |

Hewlett, DA User, and Erik ,
Did Secure Communities worry you in any way? I can tell you that the program made my life a LIVING HELL. Considering that I have to drive to campus and work, I WAS subject to deportation for a minor traffic violation.Of course, things are a little less scary now thanks to the memorandum that Morton (and I would like to think that Obama ordered) issued. Clearly, Obama's lack of leadership on immigration and his implementation of Secure Communities, which made me and my family members MORE vulnerable to deportation, really pissed me off. So, my discontent was justified and logical. In what way do all of you say that Obama critics, such as myself, need to be schooled on the topic of immgration? How can you argue that he has shown leadership on immigration? Before you answer, compare the level of leadership he exerted on FEDERAL SPENDING. Many legislators from both sides polarized the debate by involving the issues of, for instance, planned parent hood and abortion. Yet, Obama's leadership made both parties reach an agreement. On immigration, I have not seen that type of leadership. If you have, please enlighten me through examples. So, I have to agree with 2Face on Obama's rhetoric. We have only heard beautiful rhetoric but insufficient action on immigration. Rhetoric and the Public Sphere Has Deliberative Democracy Abandoned Mass Democracy? http://ptx.sagepub.com/content/37/3/...=1&ssource=mfc Article touches on an important issue on rhetoric that 2Face touched on. Good article to read if you can get access to it. |
Re: Obama Supports DREAM Act: "Let's Make Sure Those Kids Can Stay"
Immigration alone is a major issue so it needs a lot of time. Obama is doing what Americans want that is to fix the economy first.

Yes, it needs alot of time, so he should of multi-tasked and started working on CIR in his first two years.
In the first two years, Obama said that what Americans wanted was economic improvement--correct if I am wrong. Well, the economy is still stagnant, so what made Americans change their mind? |
