Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
Supporting Obama while he's threatening Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid cuts :\. He's just playing US and the Latino base with this DREAM Act support, we'll see how much he'll bend over for the Republicans next week. Deficit plan will decide if he has a chance at the being re-elected or not.

Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
It is beyond unacceptable that DREAM did not pass during the 111th congress, democrats controlled the house, the senate and the white house. Mark my words DREAM or any other immigration legalization bill will never pass until democrats controls all 3 again, no matter now much border security or e verify they put in it. For those who have been on this forum long enough, I said it during the entire campaign in 2007-2008 and got lot of heat from member here when I said it "do not buy into this hope and change bullshit" Now you see, when the campaign is done and all the hype has settle this is what we get. When was the last time you heard the president say "Yes We Can" or where is the "Change" we can believe in...?

The second bolded part: Excuse me, are you aware that Obama ordered the implementation of Secure Communities, which basically made our lives a living hell by making us subject to deportation for minor traffic violations? When the program was only intended to deport criminal undocumented individuals, ICE officials actually deported more non-criminal undocumented individuals than those with a criminal history. With this data, Obama did not publicly declare intervention; he did not do anything to stop the program. Of course, the program has slightly changed due to a memorandum that Morton issued, and, as I recall, Obama has not received any credit for this order (despite Lamar Smith's accusations), making me assume that Obama really did not care that he was making our lives a living hell. So, Obama has exposed us to the nightmare of a scenario that you claim Republicans would bring on us if they were to dominate the legislative and the executive branches after 2012. Hence, he is the worst president in terms of "helping" our community. I know he had to address other issues, but he could of at least halted Secure Communities as soon as he knew that the program was not doing what it was intended to do: deport CRIMINAL undocumented people. P.S. Just as a short personal testimony, the program made my family's life a living hell before Morton's memorandum. My relatives have to drive to work, and I have to drive to campus because border patrol conducts operations in my city's public transportation system. We were scared to hell that we might be stopped by a cop for, as an example, not making a COMPLETE stop at a four-way-stop and then be handed over to an ICE offical for deportation. Life at that time was EFEN scary because we had so much to lose. So, I am sorry if you still admire Obama, but the undocumented community has greatly suffered under this guy, a situation that is difficult to understand given that, as ECW, highlighted promised change and would use the word "Si Se Puede." Cesar Chavez must be rolling over in his grave. |
Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
The day he holds a news conference, that interrupts regularly scheduled programming and addresses immigration or dream act with a plan is when I will truly show an ounce of excitement.

Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
For the ones who keep saying they don't want Obama to be re-elected, then who do you want besides him?
The Democrat won't choose anyone but him to run, he has no competition from the Democratic side. You're just dreaming if you think a Democrat will run against him. So the only ones left are from the Republican side, do YOU REALLY WANT ONE OF THEM ELECTED???? All of the current front-runners from the Republican side are all against legalization. So, tell me, who do you want instead of Obama??? Bachmann, Romney, Cain, Pawlenty, Santorum, or Paul???? Seriously, if you say you don't want Obama to be re-elected, then you're just saying you want to sign your own deportation order. |

Cain is an EFEN idiot. He comes out with all this rule of law rhetoric. Excuse me, you (Cain) troll. You want to talk about the rule of law? Segregation was the rule of law, yet I bet his friends and distant relatives mobilized against it just as we mobilize for legalization. To paraphrase Rep. Gutierrez, a law is not fair simply because it is law. Some laws are unfair, and it is our (Congress) duty to change laws when they are unjust |
