He doesn't have to do much work convincing Latinos with the passing of DACA the Republicans being so against illegal immigrants.

If Romney loses this election, Republicans will have to turn their focus more on Latinos.

It's very simple. If there are votes for CIR in Congress, he can get it done. If there aren't, he can't.

What happened in 2009 is that all the Republicans who previously supported CIR reversed their position (1) because they didn't want to give Obama any political victories and (2) because of pressure from the xenophobic elements of their base who helped defeat 2007 effort. Obama is hoping that the Republicans will reverse course again and support CIR if they lose the Presidential election because of the Latino vote. We'll see. Only one way to find out.

How can he "lie" about something that is based, in part, on what Congress is willing to do? He said that he would push for CIR. But when it became clear that the Republicans, and even some Democrats, were not going to cooperate, there's not a whole lot he can do. Heck, they couldn't even get the Dream Act through Congress, much less CIR.

This is just a lesson in the limits of Presidential power. The same thing happened on climate change legislation. And this is why we need to elect people up and down the ballot -- from the President to Senators to Congressmen -- who support immigration reform.

Congress didn't want Obamacare, it passed anyway, without a single Republican, and with some parts of the bill needing the "nuclear option". Some Democrats didn't want to vote for Obamacare, he made them vote for it anyway. Ex: Ben Nelson got the "Cornhusker kickback", and Mary Landrieu got the "Louisiana Purchase", so they would vote for it. Look these names up and you'll see the Obama hypocrisy.

No, he promised he would pass immigration reform. Yes, it was Congress's inaction that killed it, but again, don't promise something you know 100% that you won't fulfill.
