Re: “I don’t believe President Obama"

If Obama didn't want CIR to pass then he and the democrats would have just introduced a far left partisan bill. Which is obviously not the case. Yes Obama and the left want to make Republicans look bad but they're having a difficult time.

McCain, Rubio, Ryan and Rand Paul all support CIR. Cantor supports the dream act. These are all heavy hitters in the GOP(Paul for the tea party). McCain and Rubio support a pathway to citizenship contingent on a "secure border" (whatever that is) and Obama has said that the contingency is not a deal breaker.

So how how does Obama not want CIR to pass? How do the GOP leaders not want CIR to pass?
The democrats (and the election) are pushing the republican party back to the center on immigration which is what is needed for it to pass. Are the democrats going to vote no? Is Obama not going to sign a bill if its passed in both chambers?

The GOP and Democrats want CIR to pass if for nothing more than the Hispanic vote. The big barrier is Numbers USA and the republicans in the house. I believe it will come down to whether GOP representatives will risk losing their seats in order to help their party nationally.

That's an opinion, not a fact. Big difference. And if Ted Cruz votes no to this, which he will, he is going to be a complete fraud on the subject.

In fact, so far the only CIR that became law was under the GOP administration in 1986.

It was a GOP-controlled senate that passed the last CIR bill.

The Democrats had control over both chambers and the White House during 2009-2010. But they did not do anything about immigration.

The Democrats kept the CIR until the last minute to help them gain support in the presidential election.

Remind me again. Who had the Congress in 1986?

Other than that, you are absolutely right. I mean save the part where the vast majority of the no votes for CIR bills in 2006, 2007, 2010 come from Republicans that is.

Sorry, but that's just GOP bs trying desperately to mitigate the political damage from shitting on illegal (and sometimes legal) immigrants for about a decade or two. Any reasonable person can see that it was the GOP who did everything they could to stall/block/stop any immigration reform from happening. For them to come around now and accuse democrats of political cynicism on the matter is...

Koreans have a saying - A shit-stained dog chastises a muddy one.

In 1986, the GOP controlled the Senate and the White House. The Democrats controlled the House.

The CIR in 1986 was first passed by the GOP-controlled Senate.

Almost all previous CIR bills were passed by GOP, but not by the Democrats. The Democrats just kept talking without doing anything even when they controlled all three bodies: White House, Senate, and House of Representatives.

Even President Bush pushed very hard for CIR during his second term. The GOP-controlled senate passed the CIR.

Obama and the Democrats did nothing during 2009 and 2010 when the Democrats controlled the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives.
