So the only reason I'm reluctant to be super hurrah about e-verify is because it would affect my mom.

But other than personal interest, is it really that crazy that a business verify an employees eligibility to work? It's actually a very common sesnse solution that would decrease illegal immigration without the need for enforcement. The reason so many u documented immigrants come is because we have found loopholes around the economy and developed our own underground economy. I.e, we know where employees don't care about your status, where they do check, etc.

E-Verify will not be implemented. Democrats would never do this, not at this time. Only Border Security Measures will be accepted for exactly the same reason you say. It will affect many many people. Also, E-Verify can be flawed, especially with recent legal immigrants.

Republicans should be against E-Verify because of big government.

If they want e-verify they need to do that in CIR. Dream act has so much support that there no need to give them something big for it.
