They can't give us a legislation without a pathway even if that pathway to citizenship is 50 years from now. They cannot create sub-class citizens!

I think this is going to be an issue. The Republicans won't want to vote on a bill that will cover anyone but DACA beneficiaries and have stated, including the President that they don't want chain migration. A bill that grants us Citizenship no matter how long it takes, will cause chain migration.

This idea of massive chain migration is not true. As Durbin stated in the hearing, we can sponsor our parents (and the wait time for a green card for them isn't very long). Any other relative, such as parents' siblings will take a long time before a GC is ready (in many cases 20+ years).

Right, but at this time it's common knowledge that there are about 800K DACA recipients. That is the story line, that those 800k need relief, now imagine that number going up to 2.4 million due to sponsorship of our parents. And that doesn't even include our spouses, it could be up to 3 million.

Wait

800,000x2= 1.6 million.

How you get 2.4 million

800,000 x 3

DACA recipients + two parents

even with the Dream Act it'll take us a long time. At least 10 to become USC. I am gonna say that most recipients parents are from Mexico and EWI. These parents are never going to become USC it'll take them at least15 years.

But you know the media will push those numbers. I can see it already, "the bill would benefit up to 2.5-3 million"

I've read reports of Obama granting "DACA amnesty to 1.5 million aliens" when we know only about 800k of us have applied, yet many people still believe it was 1.5 million.

That number is still too high for "chain migration". This number is assuming that every DACA recipients parents are eligible to be petitioned. We have to remember over 50% of undocumented immigrants entered without inspection (EWI) and therefore would need to have an approved waiver to undergo consular processing. And we all know that waiver is not the easiest to get approved.

Plus I'm surprised no one is mentioning that DACA recipients would have a 13-15 yr wait to become citizens, and hence would not petition parents right away.
**Yes I'm aware we can petition parents as a LPR but by the time their Priority date is current it would have been the same as waiting until the DACA recipient was a US citizen

And then there's DACA recipients whose parents already have permanent residence or have USC siblings that can petition their parents when they are 21 years of age.
