+2. When it comes to the wall, it's time to toss practical sense and idiologies aside. If he wants something that badly, it better be used as our leverage and not a goddamn 'nonstarter'.

Democrats will have to pay the price of kicking this immigration can down the road for years and years. They have to budge this time and partially fund the wall. In fact the wall already has been partially funded. If nothing gets done this month, progressives will burn Dems. Dems have more to lose.

I am all for this wall passing. I am all for chain migration to end. Be honest with yourselves. We have to fix the immigration system. There is mad people just coming in that don't need to be here. Why does your cousin, grandma, aunt and uncle all have to come here? For what? And we need a wall after they fix our situation or else there won't ever be a cap to how many illegals are here.

Our situation is not our fault because we were real young but cmon this can't be going on forever. We need to fix the immigration system.

The problem is that we dont now the details yet. How many dreamers will be covered? For dreamers that were too young or too old for the first round of DACA, this would permanently close all opportunities to legalize themselves in the future if they are not protected.

They can end diversity lottery, but chain migration should be addressed during CIR.

Do you have undocumented parents or siblings?

Re: Trump Insists on Wall in Exchange for a DACA Fix

No. my parents are citizens and my sister is a permanent resident. I'm the one with the approved green card (21+ sons and daughters category), but haven't been able to continue my case since I need my passport to apply for the unlawful presence waiver and it's been two years and haven't gotten it back from the consulate. So if they eliminate it who knows how that's going to affect me personally.

However my SO is a DACA recipient, hence why I'm so invested in this.

I qualify for the Dream Act, but not the others. Like my username kinda points out I'm not a Dreamer per se.

Chain Migration - aka family migration - if anything is broken because of the backlog and 'aging out' because of the backlog (yes I'm still bitter that I aged-out. I was 15 when my parents filed the petition and 27 when they finally received their green card). In order to bring your cousin in you would need to first sponsor your parent as a citizen (so there's that wait) and then they'd need to sponsor a sibling (takes +10 years) and then their children (your cousins) have to hope they don't age-out in the mean time (or that's an additional +6 years). People are not pouring into the country via this system. It's impossible with the wait.
