Trump did say that he wanted more money for his wall. The problem is, that's not all he said. He said a lot of other things, and that's where the problem lies. That's where negotiations are derailed.
Give him 5-18B for his wall, you say? Well that means giving him 10-33B all together for border security. Some Democrats will not support this.
As for the TPS, an effort needed to be made to defend them. If no effort was made, many Democrats would be furious.
That's not a good idea. You're going to lose some Republicans regardless, and now you want to lose some Democrats. This bill is not going to pass with some Democrats and some Republicans not supporting it. You need most all Democrats and some Republicans.
This was not a lowball offer. Democrats are just dealing with unreasonable people. |
