If they won’t include daca then at least they’re not giving him his wall. It’s a win for everyone but trump to be honest

Daca remains as it is
Democrats don’t take blame for the shutdown

for the group that does not want to include DACA or TPS relief, what will they want? Or is the assumption that they will give border security funding and not border wall funding?

That's exactly right. If the Republicans do not mention GCs, the conference will provide Trump with border security bill without a wall. Any concessions that the Democrats provide in that bill will not be enough for Trump to declare victory but will be enough so that Democrats can say they provided a bill with plenty of border security (again, no wall).

Trump will have no choice but to declare an emergency, which will quickly be shot down in the courts.

It's a win-win situation for Democrats:
A. 5.7B wall money in exchange for GCs
or
B. No deal, Democrats use DREAMers as political pawns in 2020

Democrats, whether you question their motives or not, have no other choice. They can't come to the table and negotiate in earnest because Republicans play dirty and would shift all the blame on DREAMers.

Republicans will decide what happens next. Democrats have no say.

The problem is Trump any other Republicans President would give us a permanent path

But then again

It was trump who cause this shutdown and as a result we might get something out of it. Or at least keep what we already have and maybe have AP back

Let's just hope he gets desperate enough.

I think he knows that he won't win if he declares a national emergency. A fair narrow deal is the only way, and he has to be the one to offer it.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), however, suggested Tuesday that Republicans would support a final agreement that included a legal fix for the tens of thousands of Dreamers who could face deportation.

“Having the House and Senate there, whatever it takes to solve the problem,” McCarthy said. “If there is a concern on common ground, why couldn’t both sides come together?”

Well push for it then McCarty .

Let me give you guys the game theory behind the Dems, related to 2020 msging:

Preference #1
No wall money, Trump capitulates and does NOT go through with nat emergency.
- this is best for Dems, they get to say they fully stopped Trump and kept gov open

Preference #2
No wall money, Trump does nat emergency
- Dems will say wall is tied up in courts and they didn't cave, thereby still stopping Trump.

Preference #3
Wall money + perm status deal that MUST start from the WH, Dems can't counter offer perm status first no matter what. This is why Hoyer is saying it is not part of the deal. It also allows them to do some show votes in the house passing Dream Act and it will never be seen/heard from the Senate.

100%
By now we know Trump is not a master negotiator, he just makes demands but definetly not a master of the "Art of War"

We all have seen the concesions the Reps are willing to negotiate on ... 3 year permits, they never want the dreamers to have voting rights because they can only have aoubt 20% of the votes outthere and every vote counts. They know that after all the fuckery they have done to hispanics the vast majority will never vote for them, and thus they aren't interested on giving any concesions that will decrease their vote counts even if it is 12 years into the future.
