Re: New Co-Sponsors
I have a question though. Where do we do the "Bi-weekly" post? here or under the "TAKING ACTION'' forum?

Re: New Co-Sponsors
^ I don't think we do one yet, but we should.
I'm hoping that we get new cosponsors next week. In the roughly two weeks since introduction, we had: Week 1: 8 sponsors - 1 chief sponsor and 7 cosponsors Week 2: 11 cosponsors added Total: 19 sponsors - 1 chief sponsor and 18 cosponsors |
Re: New Co-Sponsors
What I'm a little shocked about is the fact that my representative Adam Schiff still hasn't Co-sponsored HR. 1751. I would think he'd be on it by now considering the huge amount of people in our district...but I'm guessing he cares a little bit more about other things than what is really going on in the Pasadena area. Should we also take action with Reps? Do you think it is a good idea for me to go to his office during the recess?

Re: New Co-Sponsors
I have added a tool to target reps. When they are added then every two week, the list of reps to target will show up . With all theirs details of how to phone, fax, address, etc. .. reps first need to be added to the list (check the link below), anyone wants to help adding the reps? I am not good at data entry. Also these reps show up on the petition page, so that other people can call them them too let me know if this works for you guys? or if you can throw in any ideas ? http://dreamact2009.com/rep_of_the_week Basically, grab the info from http://www.house.gov/house/MemberWWW_by_State.shtml There is a dropdown with the reps already in the system, that way you will know who not to add. |
Re: New Co-Sponsors
I am not good a convincing people, but is anyone in? :-)

Re: New Co-Sponsors
we just gained another senator...we are up to 19 now...
the senator is Charles E. Schmer from NY... follow the link and type Dream ACT. http://thomas.loc.gov/ |
Re: New Co-Sponsors
^ Woo Hoo!
With Schumer added, these nine should be receptive for cosponsor lobbying. Sen. Burris (D-IL) Sen. Klobuchar (D-MN) Sen. Levin (D-MI) Sen. Cardin (D-MD) Sen. Wyden (D-OR) Sen. Udall (D-NM) Sen. Casey (D-PA) Sen. Merkley (D-OR) Sen. Cantwell (D-WA) |
Re: New Co-Sponsors
Nice, the co-sponsorship in the Senate appears to be going quite well...now only if the House could follow suit.It appears we have most of the relevant Chairs to get Dream act through committee, except Rep. George Miller who is the Chair for the Education & Labor committee.

Re: New Co-Sponsors
An aide who works for Sen. Casey told me that he will most likely co-sponsor it since he's done so in the past.
Keep calling him, he really is an easy target. |

Re: New Co-Sponsors
Just called Senator's Casey office, phone lines are busy, but left a message!
This website allows you to send a fax in support of DREAM directly to your congressman. Please forward along: http://americasvoiceonline.org/page/...ut/DaretoDream Use this to fax Casey's office, these are some his congressional local offices zip codes: 17101, 19103, 15219, 18503, it will ask for an address but just type in, "out of state", remember to personalize the message, we need all the attention we can possibly get!! The idea here that we use all lobbying outlets, this website, with one click, sends a fax to both Senators and one House Representative, dream will not pass without hard work, keep faxing, calling, e-mailing, etc! Senator Durbin, has stated he cannot do this own his own, he needs our help! |
Re: New Co-Sponsors
^ Remember, do this only if you live in Pennsylvania and in that zip code. If not, just mention you're out of state.
Here's some other Senators to cosponsor lobby: Sen. Sanders (D-VT) Sen. Shaheen (D-NH) Sen. Bennet (D-CO) Sen. Mikulski (D-MD) Sen. Lautenberg (D-NJ) Sen. Brown (D-OH) Sen. Kohl (D-WI) and when he's sworn in: Sen. Franken (D-MN) |

More co-sponsors in the house and 1 in the senate. The last congress had 26 co-sponsors for the dream act in the senate and 80 something in the house, let's see if we can beat that number this year.

Re: New Co-Sponsors
so whats the total of co-sponsors in the senate?
and if someone knows how many co sponsored DREAM in 07? thanks. pm info is possible. |
Re: New Co-Sponsors
27 total Senators cosponsored back in 2007. Almost all of them have cosponsored again in 2009 with Sen. Bayh, Sen. Sanders, Sen. McCain, and Sen. Biden's replacement not cosponsoring yet. Sen. Craig and Sen. Hagel have since retired and their replacements are anti-Dream. Sen. Crapo has flip flopped on the Dream Act.
