Weak. The statement release is the absolute least the admin should being doing. The admin should be taking stronger action in the migrant issue to show good faith to Rs and while doing that, should ceaselessly be hounding and pressuring the Senate to come up with a permanent Dreamer solution.

There's no such thing as good faith with the Republicans. Obama tried that with all the deportations and stricter border policy, and they just laughed in his face when he wanted immigration reform in return.

or
They play dirty, do away with the filibuster, and pass DA or equivalent with simple majority.

The senate was out for 2 weeks I believe. I think they come back Monday.

I think they need to first focus on fixing the border issue. If they try to push for immigration first without border security and asylum, the GOP and news media will drag us (dreamers) through the mud in an effort to discredit democrats as the have done in the past.

No side wants to show their hand first.. If Dems put a dollar amount, it gives gop room to say too low...add more... If GOP put a $ amount, it gives leverage to Dems. This is the same kind of impasse we saw for months with the 2020 covid bill. We need a bipartisan group to break the stale mate, same as before.

It is dead in the first 100 days but Biden struck a deal with Mexico and some South American countries to keep their people away from the US border.

If we see numbers drop, which they should, negotiation will start again.

A fabulous Dreamer deal is still attainable BUT only if the border crisis is put to a halt and if we can keep the radical left and right wingers out of negotiations. Both of those parties do not want a Dreamer deal to pass. Kammy Harris needs to play a big role. Its been some time since she gave an update. Isn't she responsible for the Border crisis issue? Joey needs to bring an end to this crisis quick so Durbin can get going with Dreamer negotiations!
