I am not sure if it needed to be the original or not but he took the original just in case. Just make sure to have copies of all your documents at home. Ask your recruiter and see if you can take copies. I know he had to turn in his work permit once he got his citizenship.

I finally enlisted in the army as army reserve. My shipping date is April 2017...

My recruiter said that once the OPI is scheduled, you are still okay if the program closes, so you may want to check with your recruiter.

^No you can still complete the OPI since it's scheduled, but it won't go anywhere as far as processing (until the program gets renewed, even then I think the OPI is only good for 1 yr)
