Where's Gutierrez's update on CIR on the Menendez bill? They told the press that they have a new proposal ready to be outed by month's end. Hmmmmm...I love the silence on Schumer's part too. Very amusing (jerk). I do think there's a chance of DA passing, but we must get a date. And I agree with the rest that the reintroduction of the DA bill by Durbin is insurance against a potential failure of it passing as an amendment in the DoD bill. Still, the amendment part is the better shot of the two, as of now.

Here's something to shut up all the baggers and republican haters out there and something that we can use in our favor in arguing for DA passage as an amendment:

REAL ID was a federal law that Congress passed in haste as an attachment to a military spending bill in early 2005. No supermajority required; and of course - as always - passed with the help of idiot Democrats. Passed as an amendment to an emergency spending bill providing funding for the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, it didn't come up for a vote on its own or full debate in Congress.

Dream Act should be passed just as well - and right back at ya Repubs.
