Yeah we need a DREAMer who is ready to give a speech to end all of our sufferings.

The recent policy change will allow more DREAMers to march who were before afraid of being deported, it's a huge momentum for the DREAM Act.

This is why I believe now is the time to organize a march of this magnitude. This will not only put the spotlight on us on a national level but certainly world wide attention.

I've been saying this for years. It's hard but not impossible. Even if there were 100,000 it would still make a huge impact and we would take notice.
Just keep in mind, many DREAMERs are under really tough economic circumstances, and their problem would be getting to and staying in DC.

A good first step would be getting in contact with the smaller organizations in the local level who are seasoned in some level of activism such that they could start coming up with their own individual plans on how to do this. They could seek the resources or get dreamers that are willing to foot their own bill.

Start setting up national conference calls to bounce ideas around on how to make this a reality

There was an attempt by theniya.org to create the sort of national communication network with organizations all over the country, usually holding monthly conference calls under their get active program, perhaps that could be a good way to reach the necessary interest and momentum from activists to make this a reality.

it's funny how if undocumented people knew that they can get legal by coming out to DC all of 12 million people would come out. But, in reality, they're not...

There is a need for a group of leaders crazy enough to demonstrate it is possible to come out and be safer. Ironically that has been taking place all over the country. The Chicago 6, the dreamers that protested inside the ICE offices where many are reported daily, the Indiana action, the Georgia four that sat in the middle of the street, the march of dreams from Miami to DC, the dreamer in calif that came out while under deportation proceedings getting extraordinary support for her case (a lot of prominent organizations get started in the attempt to bring attention to certain individuals), and many more.

The estimate a while back was that the US government spends about 20k per person deported, if through the actions of an entire community the cost becomes several times higher as they have to spend time and resources responding to tens of thousands of e-mails, faxes, calls, disruptions and considerable distrust in the entire community, then they are probably more likely to avoid such cases. They have to demonstrate they are not mismanaging money or spending more than estimated, and when a group of people disrupt a bus from leaving a compound filled with people to be deported and people are arrested it increases the cost across the board.

If a hundred thousand came out in support of the dream act in one spot it could create the sort of powerful statement to discourage action against such a movement.

This is an awesome idea and great discussion. Really hope we can organize something like this. I would be there in a heart beat. If I had the opportunity, I would fast too until they pass the damn bill. The point here is that people are the main power...the more people that show up in the rallies and the more it lasts...the better our chances. But there needs to be one uprising where EVERY undocumented person should be involved. It would obviously take major planning and organization but seriously this seems only option now for CIR advocates. DA still has a chance but CIR is completely dead. Would love to see what the effects would be if every undocumented person stops work for just one week.

How can we start organizing this?

Anyone experienced in doing this kind of stuff?

We would have to get in contact with the major pro-immigrants organizations. Can any one provide a list ?
