As some articles have mentioned, the Senate democrats don't seem to be seeing the DACA issue eye-to-eye. Some are unwilling to shut down the gov't b/c of it so the Democrats, understandably, can't be too rhetorical about a shutdown b/c they know when push comes to shove, some Dem senators will vote with the GOP to approve a spending bill.

I think it's pretty obvious that they are stalling to try to gain leverage. Getting close to the exp date makes the Dems desperate for any compromise. There's also that article that talked about how Trump is going to focus on immigration in 2018 and try to use DACA to get his way on a bunch of things.

I wonder what what the Dems are thinking. No way are they having it their way for sure.

But if the vote comes before the spending bill then they put the Dems in a pretty good spot if they don't come to a reasonable agreement. Like hey we tried, but now if you want a long term spending bill, you have to add the dream act to it. Senator Menendez did say that Dems have more leverage in January than they do in December.

The most important thing imo is to limit any Dreamer action up to January 19th and not have it pass beyond that. Also, to have all Dem Senators come on board for #noDreamActnoDeal

The question is debt ceiling also has to be raised so will that be done at the same time? If so, the leverage is significantly reduced. It some Dems don't want to risk a shutdown over a simple CR imagine with debt ceiling, not even the most liberal senators will.

That’s a good thing in my opinion. Next year , they will still need democratic votes to pass it in a long term spending bill . Trust me , republicans who just passed their massive tax cuts will be terrified for the debt limit to default. They will have to agree to all the democratic demands.
