Re: Dems more willing to negotiate border wall

Hoyer raised to John Kelly his comments earlier that some Dreamers didn’t apply for DACA because they were too “lazy to get off their asses" during Twos meeting, per Durbin

John Kelly echoed the point again after this meeting, telling reporters: "I gotta say that some of them just should have probably gotten off the couch and signed up, but that doesn't really matter now, because President Trump has given them the status." @davisusan

.@SenatorDurbin on preparing for immigration floor debate next week: "We’re girding our loins for battle. What does that mean?"

The dealmakers group still struggling with question of whether parents of Dreamers could be sponsored by their newly legalized children, senators say

ending chain migration is a huge deal because for one there goes some cards the democrats can use for a future CIR and secondly it would create a sub class of citizens.

Trumps proposal ensures the democrats have nothing to negotiate when it comes to a CIR

Anyone else find this odd that suddenly Kelly is talking about lazy DREAMers? It just sounds off to me...

President Trump has rejected three separate offers to fund his broadly unpopular wall in exchange for the broadly popular Dream Act.

Ugh - why??

As I mentioned in a different thread, and I hope this isn’t the case, but I feel this is the angle they want to spin things in case they manage to only pass something benefiting current DACA covered people. ‘Oh, look at all the DACA people who signed up and are being legalized by our new law! We did it! Everyone who was lazy loses out due to laziness and their own fault!’

Etc.

The bill still has to be funded.

Still, I don't think Trump will agree to any bill with any form of legalization despite his rhetoric.
