Senator Cortez Masto now: .@realDonaldTrump created a crisis on #DACA and destroyed a bipartisan solution. #Dreamers belong here. I will vote NO on this spending bill because it does not put them on a pathway to citizenship.

#BREAKING House approves temporary spending bill to avoid government shutdown. Now sends plan to the Senate. The vote was 230-197. 11 Republicans voted no. 5 Democrats voted yes

House passes short-term spending bill as government shutdown looms Until February

Quote:

The House on Thursday passed a GOP-backed short-term spending bill that would fund the government through Feb. 16. The vote was 230-197, with a handful of Republicans voting against the measure.

Both chambers of Congress have until Friday night to pass a new spending bill, but Democrats and Republicans remain at an impasse over the path forward, increasing the chances of the first government shutdown since 2013. The Senate has yet to vote. If lawmakers don't extend funding by Friday night, the government will shut down early Saturday.

This marks the fourth short-term spending bill Congress has had on its plate since September. Democrats, however, remain largely opposed to the measure, known as a continuing resolution (CR), because they want it tied to a larger immigration deal over the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and border security.

I'm confused. So, if it passes the Senate, this is still temporary until February 16? Why are they not passing a permanent bill rather than temporary one?

Why merging? This is the latest news... we can close thhis one instead of merging. It helps others to read the latest news

There's a whole thread where we've been talking about it. The same discussion will then be on both threads. It's not needed.

Some Democrats vote yes just to be on record after they realize that the GOP House has enough votes to pass the bill.

Surely people will read news on their own. This is not about Senate’s votinf. This is the news on the House passage. Let’s not merge two separate news. we can just lock the news. It helps people to follow what’s actually happening in the news section.

well everyone was following the vote on this thread so I figured it was either to keep on one thread. Anyway doesn't appear I can unmerge a thread so it will have to stay this way. If you really want to, you may repost your original post.

Look who finally found his wrinkled balls.

And what does this even mean Cotton..

Quote:

"I didn’t hear it, and I was sitting no further away from Donald Trump than Dick Durbin was," Cotton said on CBS' "Face the Nation." "And I know what Dick Durbin has said about the president’s repeated statements is incorrect."
How would you know if Durbin is incorrect if you claim you didn't hear it? Just because you didn't hear it doesn't mean it wasn't said. Check your hearing aid, mouth breather.

Just minutes after the House passes its funding bill, @RepCharlieDent says he’s “almost certain” they’ll be here tmrw voting on another (shorter-term) spending patch because of Senate impasse.
