Re: Obama sees early 2010 start on immigration reform
if I understand the timing correctly they want to draft the a comprehensive immigration reform bill before the end of 2009 and vote/pass it by early 2010.

Re: Obama sees early 2010 start on immigration reform
Here we go again trying to pass CIR in a election year, its never going to happen! and its not about having "faith" its the reality of what always happens from past experiences. So I don't know why congress and Obama would even bother to get people all fired up for nothing, just pass DREAM/AgJobs as a stand alone bill and stop trying to take it all on at one time and then fail.

Re: Obama sees early 2010 start on immigration reform
^ For the record ECW, CIR 2006 (election year) passed the Senate while CIR 2007 (not an election year) failed in the Senate. If you want to look at "past experiences," there you go.

Sure, why not? CIR will be hard to do any time you try to attempt it, election year or no, but if you look at the win/loss record in the Senate, it's 1-1. The only reason it didn't pass in 2006 was because of the House Republican Leadership, who then controlled the House, refused to even debate it. The Republicans have since been swept out of power.
Quit being spooked. It's just a year. |

Nothing new,but here is what the President had to say at ~1:19 today with a question from a New York times reporter.

Next year is not a good time, at all. No one could have predicted this fallout when Obama took office in January and no one can even attempt to guarantee majorities in the house and senate next year. It has to happen this year. Worries about this should not be dismissed.
