Indeed. This phase surely must be the last in this Dream Act debate and it will define the border CIR debate. Simply put, this is the judgment phase. If Rubio's DA is not debated and voted on before November, and if Obama does not issue EO within 3 months of his second term, consider the Dream Act officially dead because we will know he has no intention of resolving the issue and you can expect nothing from Congress as well since the Democrats will clearly not have a majority.

You speak with true and grounded wisdom. This is the last phase of the dream act, if even a republican sponsored bill does not make roads then the dreamer movement must call itself dead. But my question is this, what if Obama loses? The economy is collapsing again, the last jobs report was horrible, and with Greece and the eurozone close to their fall, the economic situation could worsen if a financial contagion spreads, add in the fact that China is stagnating and I'm pretty sure a new and more vicious great depression(real rates of unemployment are already at 17 percent) is starting up. I guess what I'm trying to say is that as the economy hits the pits then the chances of reform gets ever less likely, no one likes helping immigrants during economic crises.

Bad economy+ Romney presidency/Obama presidency= No immigration reform/more sb 1070 type laws and harsh immigration measures= dreamers leave

Very gloomy prediction that from you but I don't disagree at all. However, I believe Obama will win by a small yet comfortable margin. Romney's election would also spell the end of immigration (legal and illegal) to the United States as we know it and subsequent death of Dream Act/CIR. His administration would implement very restrictionist policies to prevent immigrants especially colored ones from entering the country to please his party. Furthermore, he would revoke citizenship of everyone born to non-citizen parents. He would ensure every middle class household is barred from having health insurance and would further pass a federal SB1070 law as you said. Personally, I have only one wish during this last phase. If Dream Act is to fail, I'd like for it to be actually be debated and voted down instead of just being faded away in time due to lack of activity on it. I can assure you I will be standing in front of the TV watching intimately as the yays and nays are registered. That's why I've continuously said I really hope Rubio introduces his bill this month to give us a chance at least. The months leading to November will declare the verdict on Dream Act/Immigration and I really hope this involves floor debate on DA. It is a waiting game. As soon as Rubio drops his bill, we expect EVERY DA support to latch on to it. Again, the earler he does this, the better our chance to persuade everyone including House GOP members to take up the bill. Rubio is holding the 2012 Dream Act hostage until he introduces it in the Senate. Don't know what else to say. It is really sad these politicians are not willing to consider what the leading economists have to say. Immigration Reform is actually one of the remedies for this ailing economy. Unfortunately, it is being used for political purposes.

I agree, it's so stupid how the issue of immigration reform has been turned into a political scandal. All we need is for Rubio to introduce it this month so that there is at least some degree of a chance it could pass. At this rate though, Rubio is killing the bill through an endless waiting hype game. But here's my question, with the way America is going, will it even be worthwhile to live there by the 2020s? maybe in a decade we'll see our past undocumented status as a good thing being that it allowed us to easily escape to better shores.

Honestly, I don't think America is going in the wrong direction in terms of the economy but it most certainly will if Romney wins. There is no point in living in this country if that happens. The entire world is suffering right now. I think we'll be better off living here once our status is resolved.

I agree, it's one of the best countries in the world, but after living away now you really start to feel and understand that the world economy is just so large and vast and that there are so many opportunities everywhere. But yeah I have to give you that, if ever legalized the dreamers would be a potent force to be reckoned with, but if Romney does win and he can get a republican majority in the senate, then it's over. Hide your kids, hide your wives hahaha.

That is by far the best description of what will happen to us if Romney some how pulls this off.

But you know what is funny about all of this? The hardliners on immigration reform don't really believe he's going to do what he says anyway. I think Ianus posted the link to another article where some supporters of SB1070 said they think he's lying through his teeth on immigration.

I just hope we don't get the chance to find out what would happen to us under the Romney administration.

to be honest...I would go to college for 1 or 2 years at most if its required, my plans aren't to go to a 4 year university and waste 4 yrs of my life.

I just want to be able to work, get my drivers license and travel once or twice a year.

The Democrat version has up to 2 years with no Associate Degree.
