All of the negative reaction she got is proof that for a lot of people in this country, immigration is neither an economic nor a law and order issue. Their opinions against immigration is deeply rooted in pure xenophobia and hatred for anything that is "other".

Dude, you have to know that there are benefits to reap for everybody in coming out as undocumented. If activists from years ago never started doing it (i.e. Tam and her counterparts), we never would have gotten anything like DACA or in-state tuition and driver's licenses. We needed activists who are brave enough to risk their own security in this country to speak for those who aren't.

You're on this forum because you're undocumented. You're no different than Belen, and you're no better than her just because you didn't make a post like hers. How can you say such things about someone who is on your side?

At the end of the day, we're all still undocumented and working toward the same goal. We're going to have different ideas on how to achieve it, but if we can't have respectful discourse with each other, then the only thing standing in our way is us.
