Though the permanent resident thing might work better. Trump was disgusted by the idea of giving parents any form of “amnesty”. This provision will allow Congress to work on ending family based immigration in the next 5 years before Dreamers get citizenship.

End sponsorship for Legal Residents, leave it as an option for US citizens only.

This is actually a good idea, to limit sponsorship only for USC's.

Only if one of their siblings is a beneficiary of the bill. So if you have USC brother or sister and you get legal through the bill, they cannot sponsor your parents.

The problem is there is no permanent residency that doesn't lead to citizenship. And how would giving permanent residencey not be 'amnesty'?

My opinion is that they should limit sponsorship to U.S born citizens. All U.S citizens who acquired citizenship through naturalization would be limited to providing family with temporary permits or nothing at all. I think this would satisfy both sides.

No? that's creating a second class of citizens. A citizen should have the rights of a citizen.
What's next? naturalized citizens shouldn't be able to vote? Let's not go down that road.

That’s a bad opinion. If you’re a citizen then you’re a citizen, regardless if you were born here or are naturalized.
