Anyhow your attempt to derail the thread will go unrewarded, because I think the republicans did really well(for their side) to throw out a goodlattte bill that would get killed, and offer a bill to compromise, but their full intent was to derail the discharge petition. With the death of the goodlatee bill, the discharge petition went up in flames, including all the leverage.

The government made me take a "government" class in my senior year of HS where they taught us the basics of how government worked so I'm not sure where the government's angle would be here. You mean each state doesn't actually have two senators? The supreme court isn't made up of 9 justices? Is there a secret underground supreme court where the justices mud wrestle? Even if my teachers were all in on it, I carry all of man kind's knowledge in my pocket every day so I'm free to search for things myself.

In more interesting news I dont think this immigration storm will hurt repubs too much, afterall they thrive on being tough on illegal immigrants/alien nationals.
