In the house bill last session: revoking DV lottery, revoking family based sponsorship, defund sanctuary cities, mandatory e-verify, bullshit merit based immigration system where only 30% on DACA would even qualify and so on and so forth.

From the senate (https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usa...amp/2649371002) they wanted to get rid of asylum, increase detention space, hire more ICE agents etc etc.

We’ve been told that these things are necessary in order for DACA folks to get a pathway to citizenship (and their bills didn’t even give us citizenship) It’s 100% bullshit.

The bill can pass as a stand-alone. Reublicans just don’t want to vote for it and empower the communities they’ve been terrorizing for decades.

I think Graham and Durban should hang it up. We’ve seen their show before and it hasn’t been effective. I think Joaquin Castro and house democrats will deliver.

there exist many legal immigrants w/ work visas who applied for PR & they r against DA bc they believe that we will slow down their process of getting PR.

u heard it rite.

they r literally against us bc they think that we would slow down the USCIS processes of obtaining their PR.

Dick Durbin has been an advocate and great ally for us over the last 20 years. But he needs to come out and tell the truth that regardless of what’s in the Dream Act bill, we will not get 10 Republicans to vote for it if it really has a chance of becoming Law.

well that is human nature in general, especially seen in this country. It's easier to pit two minorities against each other than to have them accept that the real source of their problems may be the government or corporations or the wealthy.

It's in the initial stages and they are trying to build the coalition in order to get 10 senate republican votes, and if they can, the bill will be sponsored by more than just graham on the republican side. All of those add ons were what was required to get those senators to vote yes; ice, lottery, and so on.

No bill will pass without those kinds of provisions and getting 10 GOP senators is an uphill battle. . The concept of a clean DA is a pipe dream.

How long will democrats stay in power if they abolish the filibuster? Are we assuming that if the more hardcore members of the GOP regain the government that they won't undo everything that was done with a simple majority vote? That they wont go after our GC and revoke our citizenship. They would be able to pass a bill to do just that; we could sue but then the courts are in the GOP's favor. Imagine if the GOP killed the filibuster as Trump was demanding they do.. what would have happened to us then. I am frustrated by the Senate and their inability to pass anything but there needs to be some kind of check on the party in power.

The party that kills the filibuster will undoubtedly lose control of the senate in the following midterms.

I think the only way forward is through bipartisan support. I could be wrong but I don't see it happening with just the support of a single party. Even if the Dems did kill the filibuster, you are assuming that all dem senators will vote for the bill... including the ones in deep-red states.
