Let's think this out, assuming all 50 Ds support the two bills that for sure will pass the house (farmworkers + dreamers), then we need 10 republicans. Is it doable? Possibly, I'll list the possible R supporters:
  • Murkowsky - moderate from Alaska
  • Collins - moderate from Maine
  • Graham - co-sponsor in senate, almost as faithful to dreamers as Durbin
  • Rounds - was part of talks to pass dreamer bil in senatel in early 2018
  • Scott - the one from Florida, he likes to pander to latinos and is a possible 2024 contender for the r nom
  • Rubio - not sure about him tbh, but he's from Florida and he's up in 2022
  • Romney - not sure about him either, he wasn't very supportive of DACA when he ran in 2012
  • Grassley - proposed a conservative dreamer solution in 2018
  • Sasse - not sure about him but running out of people that could cross over
  • Cornyn - I don't trust cornyn con but I don't know who else to put here and he's from Texas

So not trying to be a downer but this list does get tough after Rounds. I don't expect anyone after Rounds to support us but they might surprise us.

Biden is showing signs that he is WILLING to compromise with moderates in general (https://www.washingtonpost.com/busin...ate-democrats/).

You see in that link that the WH has agreed to reduce eligibility of the third stimulus check. This is a HUGE indication of him willing to compromise and not being like the traditional ultra left wing House Dems who want "nothing but Clean Dream Act."

We will have a better idea of GOP possible support when we see what amendments/revisions are offered to gain Moderate GOP support. The current S.264 - Dream Act of 2021 is an exact copy of last years bill and is being considered a place holder.

Wish this forum was as active as when 2010 DA time.We had tons of activism going in here (oldies prob will remember the constant calling in and faxing to the senators, senator profiles, etc). Good times.

The good old days.. It's wild what DAP has become. Back in the day it was a place to organize and be a part of the process. We have more technology and resources to advocate anything now and it's barely being utilized.

We've got people like Elon Musk pumping meme coins to the moon with tweets and reddit forums organizing massive short squeezes against wall street. Heck, Trump and his supporters basically owned the internet and won an election. If we actually worked together and harnessed the power of the internet, the possibilities are endless.

If he does comlromises the only thing that could work is the enforcement of e verify and mass deportations. Basically the ones that survive get papers.

e-verify most likely
Mass Deportation- no, it is too expensive. The more likely request will be cuts to legal immigration and kill the diversity lottery. Perhaps additional border fencing money

Mass deportations are possible, Obama didn't care and we were in the middle of a recession.
