Re: Holy crap!!! Florida people is this true????
Has anyone in FL, with an approved DACA, been accepted into a FL university as a resident for tuition purposes yet?
Just wondering if this has actually happened for anyone on this forum... The reason I ask is because of the FL residency classification forms. The form's wording is either misleading or outdated if what the universities are saying is true. The forms say "has maintained legal residence" and as we all know, DACA does not confer legal status. Here's the form: http://onestop.fiu.edu/_assets/docs/...ation_Form.pdf So, which option (A - N) can we choose without lying? |

Re: Holy crap!!! Florida people is this true????
I contacted the admissions department at uf, and was told that the deferred action that gets in state tuition doesn't include the category c33 which is what the daca recipients fall under. According to them we still have to wait for the florida board of governors to say that we can receive in state tuition.
Anyone know by chance when the florida board of governors plans to talk about or vote on such a change???? |

Here's the Residency for Tuition Purposes Guidelines provided by flbog.edu: http://www.flbog.edu/forstudents/_do...Regulation.pdf The FL Board of Governors is clear on this matter, as it says within the document: "Non-U.S. citizens who fall within the following categories shall also be considered eligible to establish Florida residency for tuition purposes [...] Individuals granted deferred action status. " Perhaps the Admissions Department at UF is uninformed and incorrect... Am I missing something? How does one get accurate information from a university so that they can submit an application? It's fraud to claim residency if you're not a resident for tuition purposes, EVEN if you are under the impression that you are legally permitted to do so. Have any DACA recipients recently enrolled into a FL university as a resident for tuition purposes? If so, what was your experience? Trying to see if it's actually possible... |
Re: Holy crap!!! Florida people is this true????
