The work permit as everyone is calling is actually called an employment authorization card, you fill out the form 765i after being granted deferred action. You have to pay $300 dollars for this form and then they will send you a biometric date where they take your fingerprints and picture. Your employment authorization card then comes in the mail weeks later. (I was once legal)

this may be a stupid question, but how do u get deferred action, is their an application or something. Can we only apply after getting deferred action?

with this process, how would you go about getting a driver's license? Is a work permit all you need?

For the most part, yes. Depends on the state.

Wait, does this mean that we first need to be in deportation proceedings in order to get 2 year permit?
