Re: States that give US in-state tuition (list)

So I guess this is why earlier this year Youguysareawesome found a list of Minnesota schools that gave us in-state tuition. It wasn't the schools that that decided it was actually a bill that was passed and signed by the governor.

Quote:

The Minnesota Dream Act, which would provide resident tuition rates at state colleges for all high school students regardless of their parents' immigration status, is among MIFN's biggest goals. The act has foundered in the Legislature under a veto threat by Gov. Pawlenty, although in 2007 he signed a similar bill that provided tuition breaks at technical and community colleges.
Complete story

CSN (College of Southern Nevada,) which is the Community College in Las Vegas offers in-state tuition as well. Plus, the counselor that I talked to, told me that after I completed 2 years there, he could put me in UNLV as an in-state student as well.

Sucks...that I had to move to Miami, FL, and here I have to pay out-of-state tuition.

Thought this would be relevant to this thread:

http://www.aascu.org/media/pm/pdf/in..._tuition07.pdf

It's called "In-State Tuition for Undocumented Immigrants: States’ Rights and Educational Opportunity" and talks about what states offer instate and other things regarding undocumented students and education. It was published in August 2007. I know it's the same states as before, but I thought it was a good read and wanted to share it.

Unless you graduated from an Illinois HS and have lived in the state for at least 3 years, then you don't qualify for in-state. This is a form for Nothern Illinois University which says the same thing I said. The name of the bill is called the Illinois General Assembly Public Act 093-07.

Other would be best but whatever you do don't mark citizen. That would disqualify you from ever adjusting if USCIS found out.

Not that I encourage people to do that, but, technically, I don't think thats the case.

I was under the impression that you have to claim that you are citizen to a federal or state institution to disqualify you from adjusting with USCIS. Can somebody shed more light on this?
