Re: MAVNI updates
Since we're on the subject, have you guys started implementing the new ACRT or is it still APFT that we'll be judged on in basic?
Thanks a bunch! |

Re: MAVNI updates
After endless drama with my PRK op and MEPS I was given the green light to schedule a new physical and get a ship date, hooah.
For those that shipped and are AR: when you went back to MEPS to get your new ship date and re-sign, did the contract start anew? Because most of us signed our contracts in 2016, meaning we've been technically serving that contract for 2 years, I'm wondering if the clock will reset? I don't mind the length of service but I'm looking at VA loans so I can buy a place of my own, and I'm crossing my fingers here hoping that I'm only looking at 3.5 years before I can buy my own place, because the requirement is that you are honorably discharged from AR, or serve active duty for 181 days. My MOS is very unlikely to be activated, so I'm looking at being discharged after 6 years AR before I can get a VA loan. Cheers. PS: can AR pick a new MOS at re-sign? |

My AIT company runs 4-5 miles 3 times a week, so my run has been continuously getting better. It's been hard for me to shave-off minutes at this point, but endurance-wise, it's been easier to just keep running and not get the overwhelming feeling of quitting lol.. I know these numbers are by no means "impressive," but I wanted to provide a realistic perspective to those who are older and not so physically fit/active coming into basic--I'm a 29 y/o male. I also agree with aiming for at least a solid 50 on your push-ups and sit-ups, and build on it. My minimums are 39 and 45 respectively. The funny thing is, while I passed my initial AIT PT test (just having graduated basic), I was just a hair short on sit-ups for my end-of-course. I guess all those weekend fast food runs took a toll. HAHA! I've been working hard and practicing though, so I'm armed and ready for my retake on Wednesday morning.. please pray for me! We've been issued our plane tickets, and if all goes well, I'm out of here in 2 weeks, and off to my local USCIS field office in SoCal to hopefully finally claim my prize. 88H, Ft Eustis, VA |

Re: MAVNI updates
Question for yall: my DACA status will expire before I naturalize. Will this be an issue when I apply for naturalization or anything USCIS related?

Re: MAVNI updates
^Congrats on passing the retest! Yeah they do amp up the PT at most AIT's but the idea is that the BCT should have prepped most people into shape by now lol. I hated our infantry oriented physical stuff at my company, but honestly you can tell right away between my platoon mates and others who either had it easy / shitbags that fall out within the first 30 seconds.
