You'd think whoever sets his schedule would see all this comming when setting the date to hold these hearings. Soon it will just be pushed to June 2011 to accomodate the mid-term elections! |
Re: White House Immigration Meeting Now Scheduled For June 17
hopefully congress will pass Dream Act first, because many of us couldn't wait 2 more years....how many 2 years do we have!!!!

*Waiting* for the meeting doesn't advance Dream act in any shape or form, the responsibility of advancing the legislation lies with us.
Note what the article says,"The administration official said the White House meeting will be used to "identify areas of agreement, and areas where we still have work to do." If we have the extra time to highlight Dream act to all potential persons attending this meeting would be a big win for us. |
Re: White House Immigration Meeting Now Scheduled For June 17
You know when you like a TV series somuch that you idolize their characters and even buy their action figures? Then suddenly there is always this SUPER CLIFFHANGER episode. They always schedule those episodes with a week of break, so you wait 2 weeks for them. Then suddenly when you wait the 2 weeks, they say due to breaking news ( or what ever other reason), and scheduling issues they have to postponed it for another month.
That is how i feel, but probably 10 times more anxious. Oh well, patience is good :(. Quote:

Well who is attending this meeting ?
|
Re: White House Immigration Meeting Now Scheduled For June 17
well, like ive been saying all along while some kids tried to insult me for doing so, immigration isnt going anywhere till 2011. hopefully they push DREAM as a standalone, but based on current events, even that is wishy-washy.
as far as the meeting go, if they are discussing what they agree on/disagree instead of trying to hammer out an agenda, what does that tell you about the prospect of immigration reform passing anytime soon? they dont have the votes, they dont even know who agrees to what, along with myriad of other issues that are more urgent. sorry folks, keep your expectations low this year or it will hurt. but yeah, this sucks big time. im gonna be graduating next year...@#&^! |
Re: White House Immigration Meeting Now Scheduled For June 17
i think the delay on this meeting doesnt mean anything bad, or some sort of delay they are fully aware of this issue and something needs to be done sooner or later.

Re: White House Immigration Meeting Now Scheduled For June 17
Republicans are the only ones to blame here.
The right to filibuster legislation is meant to achieve key compromises between both parties, but Republicans are filibustering every single bill, even if they don't find anything wrong with them, just for the sake of prolonging the debate. Democrats have been forced to invoke cloture for almost all legislation passed so far, and it doesn't seem like Republicans are willing to cooperate in the future. Just today, a handful of Republicans filibustered a bill to give the FDA more authority over tobacco regulations. Because of this, they could spend up to 30 hours bickering about something that's already certain to pass anyway. By the way, days since their last filibuster: one - yesterday. It's because of this abuse of power by Republicans that all bills including, health care reform, energy bills, immigration reform etc. keep getting pushed back, and so little progress is being made. |
Re: White House Immigration Meeting Now Scheduled For June 17
this is annoying! I just want the meeting to happen so i can find out like maybe they would say it is happening next year or this year for sure or something bc in that case, i would be outta here (if it is next year)!

PFFFFFTT . i like spain...
seriously tho. if CIR or any reform is slated to begin discussions in sept, then maybe (im grasping at straws here) just maybe theyre doing this on purpose to keep it under the radar from the antis?? shrug imma go to guadalajara, then spain. |
Re: White House Immigration Meeting Now Scheduled For June 17
been to Madrid, Spain... back in 1997, to watch a soccer game... it was amazing!!!!!!!!!!... everyone is so respectful and tries to help out one another... it was clean, there were super old structures, it looked beautiful.
... and the girls omfg... but then again; girls my age at that time (7 years old)... they have no goodies. |
Re: White House Immigration Meeting Now Scheduled For June 17
I want to live in Spain so bad.

Re: White House Immigration Meeting Now Scheduled For June 17
i feel like i have been played . . .this is completely bullshit.
If DA doesnot pass this year or early next year, i hope our voters will kick all the republicans out of the office. |
Re: White House Immigration Meeting Now Scheduled For June 17

Re: White House Immigration Meeting Now Scheduled For June 17
What's so messed up about this. They're moving it a week back to accommodate Obama's travel schedule... if the president of the united states can't be there, what's the point of holding a meeting? it's better to take things slow and find solutions than to try and rush like every other attempt and fail miserably.
it's a week. we'll survive. |
Re: White House Immigration Meeting Now Scheduled For June 17
For f****'s sake do not keep delaying the inevitable!! Where are the politics of unity....and all that other good stuff Obama spoke about. Now, I know I am thinking too emotionally, logically this is another strategic move by the White House to increase the passage of CIR, in my opinion.

Re: White House Immigration Meeting Now Scheduled For June 17
Well Obama said that the Congress must come up with an Immigration reform by the end of the Summer hopefully this time they approved, so myself and many other dreamers can start working on our profession. And many more can go to College. JUST KEEP THE FAITH UP!!!!!

Re: White House Immigration Meeting Now Scheduled For June 17
Rahn Emanuel states he wants to get Energy and Health Care before August Recess, then CIR should be addressed.
Here watch this MSNBC special on the Obama's White House: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30892505...94090#31093830 Part 1 at about 4 MIN and 10 Sec. |
