Plan B - Forget the politicians. It's our turn now.

The Dream Act, has failed, as we all know. It was a bill, about justice and fairness, but we must realize, this is in our hands now! Every journey, begins with a single step. Forget the politicians! This is our journey, the quest for freedom and our own rights! Don't rely on politicians. You fight for your own rights. Through peaceful protests, and having influential speakers on your side. We shall prevail, as history shows. The spotlight is on us, now. Whether they like it, or not.

We kind of need the politicians.

Its not as easy as it sounds, remember we are not here legally and can be sent back to our native country anytime. So implying to act like the civil rights movement is a bit far fetched given our situation, I mean we cant even get out of the damn state without being asked for damn papers! FUCK IM SAD

I think what we need is a MASSIVE boycott.

All 2.1 millions of us need to get together at DC.

Sorry, if my comment is too radical. I don't know what to think.

Good idea, but, what do we boycott?

It might be radical, but it isn't far fetched. Look, we may be "illegal", but that doesn't mean that we can't exercise one of our few rights, free speech. Look, if we don't act, don't expect an immigration bill anytime soon.

We're illegal through no fault of our own, and punishing us because of our fathers' offenses is morally wrong, and in my opinion, also violating human rights.

Look at the truth. We aren't seeing an immigration bill at best for another 2-4 years. And who knows if the GOP won't pass some radical deportation measure?

Yeah, your right. But, we kind of need to heavily convince them. And not through phone calls this time...

That's so true, they could be like "Hey you know what Jan Brewer, you're absolutely right, let's make AZ's bigoted law a federal law."

Yep, and I think that's more than likely to happen. Which is why, we must....act NOW! (Get everything organized, right?)

Rep. Guiterrez wants to take this fight to the streets, so lets do so! This, is step 1, to our victory.

We've been doing that for the past decade. Didn't work.

Look, we may be undocumented, but we aren't Guantánamo prisoners. If we stick to the old tactics, little will happen. We're humans. Not terrorists. We didn't commit the civil offense. Our parents' did (unless your 18.5). The public haven't been caring about our phone calls, as you have seen. Sorry, but things aren't handed to us on a silver platter. If you strongly agree that we're being treated unfairly, for the crime of our fathers', then fight for it (peacefully).

We don;t need to act faking irrationally, but we need to make the country and the world aware what happen here this is not right. Manny of us are dyng, facing deportation, and nobody cares, we don;t need a extremist demostrations but effective. We can start to make aware the press of other countrys. What us happen is not right. And don't worry if we go out in mass nobody will arrest us, only we do desobedience civil, we can march is peace.

Someone called for Jihad? lol jk

but guys cmon it failed, now all we gotta do is go back to our country, kick some major ass there, and show America the talent that they lost.

When I go back to Brazil( early 2011) I will have 2 goals in mind, have the job that I WANT, and be so good at it, that I will shit on America's face.

I have a stable country to go back to. But, the more they tell me to gtfo, the more it makes me want to remain in the US. I'm not giving them what they want. ;)

And nah, not jihad, peaceful protests and marches would be sufficient. In large numbers, that is.

Conservatives have a huge lead, and yes, they do get stronger. And, I do not agree with hunger strikes. What we need, is huge marches. With 2.1 million people. Enough with punishing ourselves already with the hunger strikes.

To DC!

yeah but by living illegaly, you are just putting your own obstacles in your own future.

If these idiots don't want to give us education, we go back, get the best education, and then make these Americans shove up their "ideals" up their ass

Your right about that, but I have time on my side. Some people, unfortunately, do not.

Anyway, yes, I could get the best education. I'm a citizen of the European Union.

No but what we can do is urge the minority community and remind them that their vote is powerful. We must be thoughtful and logical about all aspects of politics now if we want our voice to be heard. We have Univision, Durbin, and many Democrats on our side. What the fuck are we waiting for? Protest, become community leaders, together we can have a full-strength force.

you do know that it is over right, no more majority and Congress is lazy anyways, so there is no chance that they will put Dream Act for voting again before January 1st

Now now, we don't want to give them anymore excuses to deport us, right? It'll work, but I think the peaceful approach would be a better option ;)

There are several threads at the moment about action. This is what we need. We need to act. Now. Once the DA is passed, I will also fight for CIR, to end this vicious cycle.

the thing is you guys are working in your jobs (illegally but still) but I live in SC and here it is hard as hell for someone like us to get a job (if you WERE in one you're fine somewhat) and I do not feel like working in construction/washing dishes and other "common" immigrant jobs, I finished High school with honors and all the high grades, and I see it as an embarrassment to myself for me to work in such low jobs

Hey Rody, I'm only 14, so I don't work. My dad owns his own construction business for over 10 years.

It is an embarrassment, thus we must fight for our common rights. We may be here illegally, but through no choice of our own. And no, being in a place is not "stealing", unless you are using services without paying for them via taxes.

You are your own worst enemy if you continue to think you are here illegally. Explain to me exactly what law you broke that makes you illegal? Not having a DL or a SSN does not make one illegal. It is the USA that is denying you these documents.

Rody 12-23-2010 01:49 PM

Re: Plan B - Forget the politicians. It's our turn now.

Hell I don't pay taxes, and I feel good about it.

What do we learn in US History, back in the Founding Fathers day - no taxation without representation.

Well guess what, we immigrants can pay taxes, but can't get gov't benefits to our family, such as medicaid/medicare, food stamp, welfare and etc.

Hell we even can't get a Driver's License (and we still have to pay vehicle tax - can't out run that one)

We are humiliated on a daily basis, because we don't have the certain documents, hell we can't even cash a check without the bank teller looking at me funny because when she asked for my driver's license, I gave her my passport (my visa is good until 2011, but it is a tourist visa, and I am here since 2001)

I hate seeing my dad, work for the same american boss, and make the same shity wage he made 6 years ago when he started and he works like a madman in the factory, while the 2nd worker - an American, takes smoking breaks, slouches around, leaves 1hr before closing time, and makes more.

Stupid crap like this, is what makes me hate this country, where they want us to live the "american way" while at the same time forcing us to live "the humiliating way"

and calling one self illegal or not, doesn't make a difference, we all know that we are here and with our hands tied because we have no SSN (which is basically all you need here, with a SSN you can do anything)

Each Dreamer has a different situation. Some have it easier, some have it harder. But we all are fighting for the same thing. The *opportunity* to become whoever we can be. If you choose to leave, because you are a citizen of a developed country, that is your choice. But for those of us who do not have the option or choose to stay, the fight continues. One battle lost does not spell the end of the war.

Each of us needs to do what we need to in order to survive, to eat, to work, to go to school, be with our friends. And at the same time, we need to use our individual talents to bring awareness to as many people as possible. We need to cause a stir. Make a video. Write a blog. Make a poster. Make a *dozen* posters. Call your senator, your representatives. Read articles. Watch the news. Educate yourself. Start a local group. Join a group. Whatever you do, be energized! Be articulate. Know your facts. Respond strongly and assertively to the haters. You are as American as any native born. But unlike them, you will have to fight tooth and nail in order to receive the same rights.

There is no humiliation in survival. You do the best that you can with what you are given. I have no intention of being a waitress for the rest of my life but I am blessed to have the ability and the means to feed myself and pay my bills. The same goes for all of you. Do what you need to do but continue to push for the passage of the Dream for yourself and the millions just like you.
