Re: Interesting Article - Who killed the DREAM Act?
Well i think this article nothing but making democrates game player. YES, Dem's had two yrs to take dream act up but fu..... Gram want to get CIR done. Gop the one who called us terorist, drug dealers and so on. 95% of repulicans voted against us. We all know health care and other financial bills took up over yr and half that leaves dem's with 6 months and exclude 2 out for midterm campign so that leaves 4 months for Dem's to act on DA. They tried to pass it in Sep but still GOPer called it politics and not even single voted for it. Now we all know Reid and Durbin tired theyre best to move vote around to get enough vote but now republicans complaint abt last min passage and border not secured yet.
Come on guys we know whoes making execusis for not to vote on it??...GOP. I think we schould all stick togather for Democartes b/c theyre the one who voted for us, theyre the one who atlest trying it, theyre the one who heleped to block Arizona law, Which is suported by 95% of republicans. Lets not blame democrates for not passing DA. They tried it but we can say they schould have tried harder then this but we schould not back away from suporting Democates. Alwaus remeber something is better then nothing. I think this article helping Goperr and Anti to confusing us. |
Re: Interesting Article - Who killed the DREAM Act?
I think the article is too harsh on the Democrats. Granted, I do believe that they could of gotten more votes if Reid and Obama would of done more, but let's also not forget about the Republicans. I'm quoting the article:
First, there were the numbers. Forty-one Republicans voted against cloture, thus keeping the bill from advancing to the full Senate. |
Re: Interesting Article - Who killed the DREAM Act?
His blaming of the democrats is inaccurate.
The Dems were never as airtight and coordinated as the GOP. Plenty of Dems have conservative constituents that they are trying to appease. Without these "Democrats in name only" would we still be a majority? I doubt it. |
Re: Interesting Article - Who killed the DREAM Act?
Well, I blame the Republican 100%

Re: Interesting Article - Who killed the DREAM Act?
When I was in HS my economics teacher was talking about credit and loans etc... and he said in this country if you don't have a SS# you're basically nobody. Well you can guess how that made me feel, even though he was not talking about immigration but economics.
Now, I see that if you can't vote you're nobody in this country. |
Re: Interesting Article - Who killed the DREAM Act?
Lulz. Da was dead on arrival. Cir and gay marrriage have better chances. The article is not 100% correct because politics is not a clear, black/white subject. Both parties had a hand in this. I actually thought for a hot minute that it had a chance... But as long as there's a filibuster and drama to get votes, there will never be justice.

Re: Interesting Article - Who killed the DREAM Act?
Lets put aside our political jerseys for one moment and think about it. The truth hurts. Democrats are as guilty as Republican if not more.

Re: Interesting Article - Who killed the DREAM Act?
If you are not sure wether to blame the democrats or the GOP I would suggest look at the roll call of the last dream act bill and you will know very fast who to blame.

Re: Interesting Article - Who killed the DREAM Act?
I don't like either party because they both have done wrong, but let's be honest, are you going to side with the side that calls you a drug dealer/criminal or the side that fails to do it right but still votes to support you when the time comes.

Re: Interesting Article - Who killed the DREAM Act?
The disgruntled dreamers aren't pro-republican. We always knew that most of the republicans were against us. We're pissed off about the democratic betrayal, much like we're pissed off about McCain betraying us. Having close to super majority for four years and never seriously touching the issue until the 11th hour reduces the issue to nothing more than a soundbite. And while both parties are useless, democrats are the ones gave us hope and then didn't deliver.

Re: Interesting Article - Who killed the DREAM Act?
I believe both parties have done wrong. The complete blame cannot be set on either.
Democrats were faulty in a way that they could have been more organized, more communicative with their own party and the republicans as a way to persuade, and procrastination got the best of them. Let's not forget though, they were the ones that have supported us at least more than anyone else. Republicans obviously did wrong with their constant use of scare tactics and straight up closed-mindedness. Even though we don't agree with their points of views, we gotta admit they were well organized within their party for the most part. |

Re: Interesting Article - Who killed the DREAM Act?
Blaming democrats, really... they are the ones that tried to push for the DREAM Act.
If you want to blame anyone blame the republicans like McCain that co-sponsored the DREAM Act on three separate occasions, Hatch who participated in writing the DREAM Act at the beginning, Snowe who initially demonstrated support for the DREAM Act, LeMieux who supposedly sympathized with dreamers' plight in his speech during the DoD bill that had the DREAM attached, and the one that really killed the DREAM Collins. She mentioned she supported the DREAM Act, and she supported DADT during the DoD defense bill debate, but voted no, one yay was all we needed then to save all the pain and suffering and it was hers, she said it was not the right place to attach the DREAM Act or DADT and that she would support DREAM if it was stand alone, she again voted no. Additionally blame McCollum and Sessions for spreading lies and misinformation about the bill We already knew we did not have the support of all the democrats, I don't get it why everyone is all of a sudden surprised there were democrats that did not vote for the DREAM. Instead we should be mad about the republicans that demonstrated some interest in supporting the DREAM Act but did not support the DREAM Act after the tax bill was passed and after the elections. |
