STAPLE Act

Check out the "Stopping Trained in America Ph.D.s from Leaving the Economy" (STAPLE) Act.

To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to authorize certain aliens who have earned a Ph.D. degree from a United States institution of higher education in a field of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics to be admitted for permanent residence and to be exempted from the numerical limitations on H-1B nonimmigrants.

Here's an article on Faux News about it:
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2011/...re-staple-act/

And here's HR 399 on Govtrack:
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h112-399

Idk how to feel about it exactly. On one hand, it lowers the cap and allows people to legalize; on the other hand, it is not as beneficial to us as DREAM is and I hope the politicians don't use this as a "Down payment" for CIR.
What do you guys think of this?

Would Dreamers qualify for the staple act or is it for students on legal visas?

It is a perfect excuse to fight for a ph.d! Go us! I will get a pd.h in mechanical engineering.

By the way this would be an option for those who have graduated but are on the border line age wise.

I don't know how many PhD programs can actually fund an undocumented student.
I bet most of them can't. So unless you can pay the tuition yourself, this will not be the case (well DA covers many type of people: including those who have lost their legal status due to this shitty system...)

Yes, as long as the Dreamer has a Ph'd.

Maybe not to be a U.S Citizen but definately want to come to USA to work.
H1B is the easiest way if you can get a sponsor.

saying stupid stuff is one thing but misinforming the public is another. why are you lying to people. no where in the bill says someone who's undocumented can become legal again. it's strictly to make it easier for those with visa to get citizenship.

The bill does not talk about if you are undocumented or documented. For the H1B. you have to be documented.
