Let the show begin. Durbin is someone who cares about our country and is not just there to warm up the seat.

Dont mean to be negative but why introduce CIR for 12 million immigrants when we will have such a fkn hard time passing the DA????!!! Geezzz like the GOP rather vote for the CIR better than the DA....seriously I think this is a vote strategy. The DA as a stand alone bill has more chances with a 30 yr age cap, no tuition and a fee than this scam. Fkn democrats think we are so stupid.

I see your frustration. Although CIR includes border security measures, it is attempting to legalize a huge number of people, which is not appealing to Republicans. I think the DA would have a better chance than CIR if it were combined with E-verify and perhaps more border security measures just because it aims to legalize a smaller number of " more industrious" undocumented individuals.

If Democrats are going to take a stab at CIR first, they need to move quick, so they can then try to pass DA with E-verify with ample time if CIR fails.

CIR is actually easier now because of E-Verify. Why only pass DA when you can pass everything and can compromise with both parties?

GOP's do not care about the age cap. An amnesty is amnesty to them.

I disagree with this statement; we need the original bill back. Remember that the latest bill voted on December was called an amnesty and a detriment to the country by the opposition, despite all the proposals you included and many more. We see that a more stringent version of the Dream Act doesn't necessary increase its likelihood of passing, but burdens dreamers with fulfilling more documentation, long waiting periods, and no in-state tuition. The reason the Dream Act had slightly a few more votes this December was due to more Democrats in the Senate and the timing of the lame duck session. Hence, I believe the original version was much more simple and beneficial to dreamers.

True, also the original Dreamers are from when the bill was introduced in 2001 so no one should be left out from then on.

With the way House is made up as of now, CIR/DA simply cannot pass. I need either to pass as much as any of us do, but it's just not possible right now.

That does not matter. E-verify will lead to the passage of Dream Act.

Also, GOP's need to pass it if they want to win the elections.
