Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
I can't wait until he's out of the White House. He's probably the worst President of all time. Sure, I can already hear you guys saying that he's trying and that George W. Bush is the worst President of all time but no, just no. At least Bush did something. Obama is a joke. All he did was get healthcare reform passed and nothing else.

Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
Ugh!! I'll believe him when he gets Dream Act passed :x

Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
Translation: "Latinos, vote for me"
This guy is starting to resemble a street beggar...continuously begging for votes. |
Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
Hey guys, he's all we've got.
If he's not elected in '12, ICE is gonna go all SS on us. We've got to do all we can for him to get re-elected in '12. |
Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
It really gets me mad when people say that Obama didn't do anything for this country except pass healthcare reform or that he's "probably" the worse President in history. Well to all those out there who think Obama has not done s***, i guess he didn't repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell, and I guess he didn't pass Wall Street Reform, and I guess he didn't put a cap on the BP oil spill and oh wait, here's the big one...I ALSO GUESS HE DIDN'T CATCH OSAMA BIN LADEN! So let me guess, these are all things that the Republicans did and they should get credit for. WOW! Some people just prove that truly a mind is a terrible thing to waste. Listen, Obama is the only chance immigrants have in order to getting the Dream Act or Immigration Reform passed if he is not re-elected. If some chance a Republican is in the white house, God Help Us All because everybody and their mother and grandmother will be deported. The sad part is even if you don't have a criminal record, just being caught alone is a first class trip to a detention center and then deported. So please people, be smart about the change you want and look at things for the long term and not the short. Thank!;-):grin:8-)

Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
Oh I also forgot that I guess Obama didn't renew the START Treaty with Russia either. WOW! It just dawned on me that not only is it rewarding to be educated in America, but to be TAUGHT TO READ SO HOPEFULLY PEOPLE GET THEIR FACTS RIGHT! PRAISE GOD, PEOPLE, PRAISE GOD! :)

Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
Obama didn't catch anyone. I don't remember him being in Pakistan when Osama was gunned down. Also, all he did was sign DADT. At this point in time it was bound to pass sooner or later. Healthcare reform was really the only thing he fought to get passed.

Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
Supporting Obama while he's threatening Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid cuts :\. He's just playing US and the Latino base with this DREAM Act support, we'll see how much he'll bend over for the Republicans next week. Deficit plan will decide if he has a chance at the being re-elected or not.

Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
It is beyond unacceptable that DREAM did not pass during the 111th congress, democrats controlled the house, the senate and the white house. Mark my words DREAM or any other immigration legalization bill will never pass until democrats controls all 3 again, no matter now much border security or e verify they put in it. For those who have been on this forum long enough, I said it during the entire campaign in 2007-2008 and got lot of heat from member here when I said it "do not buy into this hope and change bullshit" Now you see, when the campaign is done and all the hype has settle this is what we get. When was the last time you heard the president say "Yes We Can" or where is the "Change" we can believe in...?

The second bolded part: Excuse me, are you aware that Obama ordered the implementation of Secure Communities, which basically made our lives a living hell by making us subject to deportation for minor traffic violations? When the program was only intended to deport criminal undocumented individuals, ICE officials actually deported more non-criminal undocumented individuals than those with a criminal history. With this data, Obama did not publicly declare intervention; he did not do anything to stop the program. Of course, the program has slightly changed due to a memorandum that Morton issued, and, as I recall, Obama has not received any credit for this order (despite Lamar Smith's accusations), making me assume that Obama really did not care that he was making our lives a living hell. So, Obama has exposed us to the nightmare of a scenario that you claim Republicans would bring on us if they were to dominate the legislative and the executive branches after 2012. Hence, he is the worst president in terms of "helping" our community. I know he had to address other issues, but he could of at least halted Secure Communities as soon as he knew that the program was not doing what it was intended to do: deport CRIMINAL undocumented people. P.S. Just as a short personal testimony, the program made my family's life a living hell before Morton's memorandum. My relatives have to drive to work, and I have to drive to campus because border patrol conducts operations in my city's public transportation system. We were scared to hell that we might be stopped by a cop for, as an example, not making a COMPLETE stop at a four-way-stop and then be handed over to an ICE offical for deportation. Life at that time was EFEN scary because we had so much to lose. So, I am sorry if you still admire Obama, but the undocumented community has greatly suffered under this guy, a situation that is difficult to understand given that, as ECW, highlighted promised change and would use the word "Si Se Puede." Cesar Chavez must be rolling over in his grave. |
Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
The day he holds a news conference, that interrupts regularly scheduled programming and addresses immigration or dream act with a plan is when I will truly show an ounce of excitement.

Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
For the ones who keep saying they don't want Obama to be re-elected, then who do you want besides him?
The Democrat won't choose anyone but him to run, he has no competition from the Democratic side. You're just dreaming if you think a Democrat will run against him. So the only ones left are from the Republican side, do YOU REALLY WANT ONE OF THEM ELECTED???? All of the current front-runners from the Republican side are all against legalization. So, tell me, who do you want instead of Obama??? Bachmann, Romney, Cain, Pawlenty, Santorum, or Paul???? Seriously, if you say you don't want Obama to be re-elected, then you're just saying you want to sign your own deportation order. |

Cain is an EFEN idiot. He comes out with all this rule of law rhetoric. Excuse me, you (Cain) troll. You want to talk about the rule of law? Segregation was the rule of law, yet I bet his friends and distant relatives mobilized against it just as we mobilize for legalization. To paraphrase Rep. Gutierrez, a law is not fair simply because it is law. Some laws are unfair, and it is our (Congress) duty to change laws when they are unjust |
Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
health reform act? i used to pay $423 for my parents health insurance. upon the news of the reform it went up $100, the reform passed and i pay now $623. thank you obama. stimulus money i am sorry haven't seen a million in my lifetime, wondering how a trillion looks like. all that money washed away and half of it aig, etc ate all of it. obama did mention that he was going to get the money back etc, what happened? oh ya BP oil spill took him a week to take action and meanwhile we find out that BP donated a huge sum to obama's campaign. Here is the deal Money got him in the white house (google it, if someone cares....he was able to obtain more campaign money than Bush or any other president)....and now he has to return favors. He talked good...made sense...but he won't do a thing. Some kind of solution within 6 months? OPEN YOUR EYES

Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
Eh, Obama's a figurehead. All presidents are. I would say that so far Obama has been an 'ok' figurehead since at his insistence various beneficial laws have been pushed through.
Yeah, he hasn't done much on immigration -- but really only because there's not much that he can do. Yes, deportations are up, but they're only up because congress keeps passing funding bills to increase funding for ICE to carry out their mission. You have realize that as president he is constrained by the constitution to execute (hence: executive branch) the laws passed by congress. He has some leeway in how the agency resources are allocated like the recent memo to take the focus off of undocumented students, but nevertheless ICE is an agency that exists to deport illegals. Obama simply cannot say "ok, stop the deportations" since that goes against the fundamental structure of the American government. If he did that, I imagine that even the Democrats would vote to impeach him since it violates the constitutional separation of powers clause. Also, if you think Obama is bad, then you must not have looked at the current GOP presidential candidates. They make the hair on the back of my neck stand up when I think about one of them becoming the next president. If you haven't noticed, the GOP controls the house and the Democrats in the Senate are facing opposition from the Tea Partiers who are staunchly anti-immigrant. That's who you should be angry -- the 535 congresscritters who vote on your and mine future. Frankly I find it very amusing when illegals say things like "I won't support X or Y anymore!" because well.. you're not X or Y's constituents. We have no voting power or voice in how they carry out their job. All we can hope for is for the people in power to do something for us. |
Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
He wont step down because he never really did stepped up! Fck this guy talking about! Once i see him giving the same effort as he did on health care, i will shut the fuck up.. But as of now, i dnt give a shit what he has to say.

Re: President Obama says he won’t back down from the DREAM Act
Are you fucking kidding me? To those of you criticizing the President: What would you think Romney would do for us? What about Bachmann? What about Palin?
If you continue to be uneducated about the issues that you are talking smack about you will only hurt our movement. If republicans win we will most likely be getting shot on the streets by rednecks who think they're in some kind of white supremacy army. Seriously. Already there have been laws aimed to keep the latino vote down and you are still talking smack about democrats. Listen, not because the majority of one party supports a bill, doesn't mean all the party will vote in favor. We are the Democrat's constituency and if we continue to talk like this "man fk obama he ain't did do sh^t" we will FAIL. Its time to get educated, grab a damn book and learn how politicians kept the black people from voting after the 13th amendment passed. Turn on the tv, and look at how republicans are keeping blacks, latinos, and students from voting. The bill failed last year, but if Obama doesn't get re elected we are practically screwed. What is the solution you offer? If you don't like this country or don't feel part of it, then stop commenting stupid blabbering and get the hell out, you are only hurting our cause. |
