House Judiciary Committee passed Chairman Lamar Smith's Legal Workforce Act

The House Judiciary Committee passed Chairman Lamar Smith's Legal Workforce Act (H.R.2885) on Wednesday afternoon 22-to-13.

bills and resolutions first go to committees that deliberate, investigate, and revise them before they go to general debate.

Considering that Republicans argue that no reform on immigration will be addressed until the border is secure, isn't it really ironic that they are essentially aiming to reform a portion of the immigration system????????????

I have a feeling that E-verify will now pass along with this act in the lower house. I really anticipate a heated debate on immigration coming up, guys. I hope Democrats resist and pressure for compromise. I also hope Democrats publicly mention that what the GOP is trying to pass undermines its border security first, then immigration reform platform.

Republicans are so stupid. I swear.

Do republicans ever compromise?

E-Verify would fail in the Senate.

Oh no it wont. Democrats want E-verify as part of some immigration reform package.

Yes. Deficit is one example.

So, either Reid combines this with E-verify and the DREAM Act. Or, Schumer shocks us with a immigration reform bill of his own.

What the hell, Numbers USA has its own webcast TV station? Why doesn't Dream Act have the same?

Now, wouldn't that be the surprise of the century.

If everyone is bitter, what are we doing here then?????????????????? Let's just leave. Sitting around being angry and pessimistic is not going to help.

If the ones who think that nothing will happen anytime soon are still in the US, what are you still doing here???????????????????

Leave, so your suffering can end. No one is holding a gun to your head.

I misread your comment. I recalled the debt ceiling compromise and not the deficit compromise. I am not even aware they had reached one

Re: House Judiciary Committee passed Chairman Lamar Smith's Legal Workforce Act

I apologize about that. Then I meant the debt ceiling compromise. In terms of the deficit, you can even say that both sides compromised on creating a mechanism (the Super Comittee) for negotiating the aspects of a deficit bill. The point is that members of the GOP have compromised.

Did Obama get the revenue raises he wanted?
What did the democrats get out of that deal?

In compromises, neither side gets its "full" demands.

My question to you: Did Republicans get everything that they wanted in that bill????????????

Relax, guys. I am voicing my views on the political process. If you want to label me a lunatic, feel free to do so.

this bill is not going anywhere. It has both Democrat and Tea-Party opposition. Unless of course, Obama feels eager to please the hardliners once again.

I agree the opposition is high, but you never know.
