The guy they were accusing as the bomber already came forward to the police because he was being wrongfully accused of it.

Just saw on the MSNBC ticker that they're both LPRs. And they're Chechen nationals.

Two Boston Marathon bombing suspects are brothers, aged 19 and 20, and legal permanent U.S. residents of Chechen origin, law enforcement sources say http://nbcnews.to/177KYuP

Oh, thank god they aren't here illegaly but that wont stop people oppposing this immigration reform bill from trying to make a connection with then sadly.. Anyways i hope they catch him so he can pay for his crimes.

Re: Shooting at MIT

This is sad... Whether they are permanent residents or not, this will have a negative impact on the immigration reform movement. Logical people will not try to use their judgment against it, but, again, those who oppose it in the Congress are not logical...

It is already sad without concerning about its impact on the passage of the immigration reform bill... But, it is now worse.... Great timing...

They apparently came to the U.S. legally in 2002 with their family. MSNBC reported that one was born in Kyrgyzstan (the 19 year old) and the other was born in Russia (the 26 year old), but the family is Chechen.

EDIT: Now they don't know if the family is actually from Chechnya, but they can confirm that their father held a government position there.

Actually, I don't see it that way. If anything this highlights the importance of knowing who is here. That same argument came up at the Gang of 8 press conference yesterday.

Re: Shooting at MIT

I know what you mean.... Logically, this incident cannot be used against the immigration reform bill... First, they are permanent residents. Second, it is better to know the identities of undocumented immigrants. And, the list can go on....

But...
Then, again, those Republican immigration reform opponents will use this incident no matter what... Logic is not what they use for their arguments.

True.

But, anyone that uses this as an excuse to block reform was never on our side to begin with. Just look at Steve King.

Re: Shooting at MIT

I think we should take down the pictures of the missing Brown student. It has been confirmed the suspect number 2 is Dzokhar Tsarnaev originally from Russican Caucasus region/Kazakhstan/Chechnya area. The longer this guy is at large, the higher the chances of CIR being shelved this year. This is the reality. Tea Party will pounce at this opportunity. Regardless, lets take down the pics of that missing Brown student out of respect. Boston dreamers and friends...please stay safe and take precaution!

Re: Shooting at MIT

My first take is that this is terrible for the cause of CIR. We ll see.

Tea party is gone bro, its Ok, we survived their stubborness and now its our turn. In my opinion this case is an even stronger reason of why to reform immigration. Imagine if they came illegally, they would never know who they truly are.

By the way, just some updates on this case. 1st suspect is dead, the one with the black glasses, 2nd suspect is being man hunt'd.

I don't think this event will effect CIR in anyway.
