Renew Your DACA

If your initial two-year grant of deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) is expiring, you may request a renewal. This page explains how to request a renewal.
If this is the first time you are requesting DACA, go to Request DACA for the First Time . You can also find information in our Frequently Asked Questions.
Who Can Renew

You may request a renewal if you continue to meet the initial DACA guidelines and you:

• Did not depart the United States on or after Aug. 15, 2012, without advance parole;
• Have continuously resided in the United States since you submitted your most recent DACA request that was approved; and
• Have not been convicted of a felony, a significant misdemeanor, or three or more misdemeanors, and do not otherwise pose a threat to national security or public safety.

When to Renew

You should submit your renewal request about 120 days (4 months) before your current period of deferred action will expire. If you submit your request more than 150 days (5 months) before your current period expires, USCIS may reject it and return it to you with instructions to resubmit it closer to the expiration date.

The great thing is we don't have to send anything but the forms, pictures and money order. No more dictionary's through the mail.

I'm a little confused on when you have to renew. I know it's 120 days before expiration so does that mean I have to renew now or in July if my EAD expires October ? Anyone have any idea?

you send it this month since you're October (August and September should too), November is next month and so on.

They changed it to 150 days since they took longer to produce the forms

what do you mean 150 days? I only have 112 days left to renew. I will send out my application on Friday through UPS, but USCIS wont receive it till Monday.

What are the sizes of the photos we need to send? and where should we mail the package?

I don't see any instruction requesting photos to be submitted, has anyone seen the request for photos?

They're on the i-765 instructions form, I believe the pictures have to be 2x2. You can get these at Walgreens.

I lost the approval letter for the I-765, on the form it states (Results (Granted or Denied - Attach all documentation) will a photocopy of the EAD be enough?

I was thinking the same, but I have the envelope and all I got was instructions on how to use it, a return slip (just in case it was incorrect) and the EAD. I think your actual CARD is your Employment Authorization Document (EAD) it took me a while to realize that.

If you have a final deportation order but got deferred through DACA, what do you answer for question 5? since my case has been deferred, should i answer "terminated" on 5c ?

You also need to submit a copy of the I-94 if you came with inspection, it's on the I-765 Instructions. I-94, Copy of EAD front and back, and 2 Passport Photos.

Q.14, Same thing you put when you applied the first time, unless you traveled abroad using Advance Parole and were paroled back into the U.S.

well status of last entry for me would be B-2 visitor visa and for question 15 its Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA). i think application process should speed up since they already have all our information. I have a question . do we still need to provide proof of residence from the date of our DACA approval to date of renewal?

You need to download the file. Even when it shows that error. Open it from your computer after saving it. It will work now. It took me forever to figure it out.

I'm heading to the post office as well. I just checked the uscis website and for deferred action the duration for processing is at 6 months...hoping that means the ICE granted one? lol

wow.. I did notice that... Hopefully this renewal process doesn't take that long.. It should take less than 3 months is my guess... otherwise all of us who were the first to be approved in sept 2012 are going to run out of time and our status will expire... Mine expires in 3 months and 9 days.. so that's why I sent the package as fast as I could...

$465 Money Order

Follow the instructions on all three forms to submit them to USCIS. There is a $380 filing fee for Form I-765 and an $85 biometric services (fingerprints and photo) fee, so the total cost is $465.

6. 2 passport style photos attached for Form I-765
