WH Press Briefing - DACA Question
So Sean Spicer was asked about when DACA & DAPA are ending by radio host skyping from Alabama:
"We are reviewing these programs"...."We’ll see more action on that in the next few weeks." I didn't watch it, just saw this on twitter. |
Re: WH Press Briefing - DACA Question
I saw it. The question was when is the program ending?
|
Re: WH Press Briefing - DACA Question
The person asking when will Daca end. Spicer said that trump has fulfilled many of his campaign promises. Spicer didn't know how to answer the question. He was trying to chose his words carefully. He said Trump will take some action in the next few weeks.
This doesn't mean he's repealing it. Just that Trump will do something. |
Re: WH Press Briefing - DACA Question
he wont get rid of DACA unless there is a replacement. its obvious with Spicer's answer he doesnt want to end it, they are basically saying give us a break guys... we kept most of our campaign promises regarding immigration like the muslim ban, refugee, etc and we can leave daca alone etc all that bullshit.

Re: WH Press Briefing - DACA Question
The answer should be when a replacement is in place. Simple, clear and straight to the point.

Re: WH Press Briefing - DACA Question
they dont wanna trigger their alipac, fair and immigration hardliner base. they would rather not say anything about our issue and leave it alone. lol

Re: WH Press Briefing - DACA Question
They should clear up that DAPA is indeed dead. The uninformed person who asked the question makes it seem to the viewers that DAPA is alive. Spicer's vague answer had the same effect. I agree, it's clear they want to keep DACA or find a legislative replacement for it, but they should clear up that DAPA has been dead and will remain that way.
|
Re: WH Press Briefing - DACA Question
I think they will say DAPA is dead and make that the big news... Then quitely say DACA will end Congress is coming up with a solution. Maybe he will say DACA ends at the end of the year and that is the time Congress has to fix the issue.
I would be happy with that, then force Congress to pass something, if nothing passes then it does not get cancelled. |
Re: WH Press Briefing - DACA Question
isn't dapa dead no matter what they do cause of the SCOTUS 4-4 decision?
|
Re: WH Press Briefing - DACA Question
Basically the same non-answer we've been hearing for two weeks now... I don't think we've heard any news in the last couple of days with the ban and the SC appointee sucking oxygen out of the news cycle.

Re: WH Press Briefing - DACA Question
What do you guys think is the real reason they seem to be so secretive on DACA?
If I was to choose the main reason, I am still sticking with my thought that they simply do not want to enter the taboo realm of taking away something given to someone. But this administration is basically messing with everyone else...so I dunno what the deal is really... |

On a related note, the I-821D DACA form was recently updated on USCIS. Other members have looked at the form and said there were no changes to it, only that the form was updated on 02/02/2017 and the expiration reads 01/31/2019. So basically nothing new, but then why bother to put a new date on the form if you were just going to end the program anyway? I don't want to read too much into that tiny fact, it could be just government waste. But since that leaked EO hasn't been signed, I'm still holding on to just a tiny bit of hope. |
Re: WH Press Briefing - DACA Question
uscis update on i-821 doesnt mean anything. its just an application paper update.. its standard for paper applications for anything.

I am wondering if Trump has no clue on how to do that and or if Sessions has asked Trump to award him the honors of officially killing it, once he becomes the attorney general next week. The question remains as to what Sessions opinions regarding DACA will yield once he is nominated and becomes a cabinet member. I wish Christie has become the AG. |

My guess is they'll just string the daca thing along like his taxes and then hope the public forgets. Of course there will always be the hardliners, but hopefully they can back off if he vows to overturn it when congress acts. |
