We don't get a year extension. What this is saying is that Congress already HAD 7 months, and this additional 6 that Trump is giving makes it over a year

"I don't want anyone pissed off at me, so i'm going to pretend like i care and tell you that i will go back and revisit the issue at a later date if Congress doesn't act, but that's just bullshit. I plan on letting it die."
