New talking point

Adrian Carrasquillo
@Carrasquillo
Ahead of meeting with congressional leaders, @PressSec trots out new line: We hope Dems are not going to affect service members abroad by threatening to shutdown government over DREAMer protections in spending bill.

https://twitter.com/Carrasquillo/sta...46102617579521

We heard this talking point from cnn reporter Dana Bash yesterday.

Turn it around on them:

We hope GOP are not going to affect service members abroad by refusing to add DREAMer protections to spending bill.

Re: New talking point

Republicans have the ability to pass a bill with their own members. If not, they need to compromise.

Re: New talking point

The replies though... some ppl are so woke!!

Republicans put us into the two longest wars in US history on lies and with no way of paying for them.

Wars that continue to cost the US trillions.

But sure, tell us all about how not supporting the GOP budget means Democrats don't support the troops...

Stupid cow faced idiot.

Leave the guy alone, he's just reporting on the talking point. If you're going to go after anyone, go after the Press Secretary for her BS.

Replied.

So they are pitting Dreamers vs Troops

Nasty stuff

Re: New talking point

I don’t think this talking point is going to stick. Primarily because trump canceled daca for Congress to pass a solution. They can’t even pass tax reform so the American public now knows how inept at government they are. All the competing factions on the GOP have made governing for them impossible, that’s why they are having a meeting with Pelosi and Schumer.

I just hope democrats remain committed to helping us!!!

I think what she really try to say was..

Quote:

"We hope Republicans who were voted in the majority start governing soon so there is no shut down and doesnt affect service members abroad"
Fact is, Democrats can simply play this game too and blame the GOP for being in the majority and not being able to govern. Let's hope this tax bills fails because if it does, the GOP will be that much eager to get this spending bill through at all cost.

Saw this coming...... to be fair its a tough sell for DEMS. Not because they don't have a good counter argument but because there are enough people out there who'll believe anything the WH says; fact or fiction. Truth is we are now living in a fact environment....SMH!

Re: New talking point

Here's a solution if they want to help troops. Give us that want to enlist greencards, so we can become troops, and the other that dont want to enlist give them greencards so they can help the country.

Aren't dreamers serving as well?

What's the point? They have a majority, it's their fault they can't vote on anything. the 34 percent that still believe anything the WH says ain't gonna change their views, it's like a cult dude.

Re: New talking point

Old but regardless of whatever deal comes out , there will be a path to citizenship!

Quote:

Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., warned a conservative audience in Washington, D.C. Monday night against settling for an immigration deal that would legalize beneficiaries of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program but not make them eligible for citizenship.

In an address to Hillsdale College's eighth annual Constitution Day Celebration, Cotton made clear he opposed clean reauthorization of DACA without additional provisions designed to mitigate the incentives for future illegal immigration that would be created by giving legal status to illegal immigrants who arrived as minors. But the senator said not allowing some path to citizenship for those legalized was a nonstarter.

Cotton said it would be bad policy to have a large group of permanent legal residents who weren't eligible for citizenship. He added, in response to an audience question, that it would also be terrible politics for Republicans if such a deal was enacted.

"The next day Democrats … would be protesting the ‘separate but equal'" treatment and "the new Jim Crow," Cotton said.

Can’t believe Tom Cotton supports a path to citizenship.

I don't understand, what is wrong with a large group of permanent residents. I'm assuming this would mean greencards?

Aren't there already tons of greencarded folks in the US?

They all have a path to citizenship. You can’t just give us dreamers a green card and not give us a way to naturalize.

But wait a sec, don't greencards automatically place you on the path to naturalization in and of itself.

Simple answer...No!

Re: New talking point

That is a consequential legislative issue that needs to be dealt with, but it shouldn’t be dealt with in the context of a year-end spending bill and the Democrats using it—trying to use leverage to shut down the government,” Thune said. “The DACA issue and border security need to be negotiated separately, hopefully sometime next year.”

https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-...shutdown-fight

Hopefully, sometime next year? We start expiring in March . Why are they refusing to say January or February, but give these vague timelines. Fuck it and shut it down!
